Looking for Log Cabin

in The Commons
I have been trying to find examples of log cabins that were built by the (scandinavian) immigrants in the northern parts of USA and Canada in the 19th century.
I can find lots of pictures of log cabins, even old ones but most of them have the chimneys outside the cabin, which I have hard time believing anyone familiar with real winter would have built.
Anyone know any place where I could find pictures of such log cabins?

All you need is the right words
Thank you, some even had the cold porch to protect against cold air rushing in when you open the door. Now I have some base for building one for my story.
Chimneys certainly should be on the inside to transfer and retain the radiant heat.Wood stoves work well in that regard too.
my first house even had a chimney in the middle and a wood stove I could cook on and heat the house.
I think the ones outside are tacked on later or maybe some more recent fire code thing,
My grandma had a fireplace in every room and multiple chimneys none on the perimeter.
Just think, when a kid draws a house, where do they put the chimney? in the middle
Exactly... Having it outside the walls is the same as having your plumbing outside too "because it's easier to thaw that way"...
