How to use smart props?

The smart props in this environment make use of Hierarchical poses (H Poses). They are really easy to load. Firstly, select the figure you want, then load the smart prop and after apply the relevant H pose. You can apply the H pose to either the smart prop or the figure as long as you loaded the smart prop correctly in the first place. 

So I did exactly as it says. I loaded the figure Genesis 8 Character, then selected it, then loaded the prop and then tried applying ther pose and the figure disappeared. I am unable to use the H Pose (Heirarchial Pose) on just the figure itself.

Am I missing something? Is there some step I am not doing?\

Are the poses made for Genesis 8? Hierarchical presets require the correct base figure (the character applied to the figure doesn't matter).
