Can someone tell me what this is?

Thanks for taking the time to help me. I am new to daz 4.15 and there is a few new things that I dont understand and this is one of them, what is the black grainy stuff behind my render? In daz 4.12 I never had that problem and how do I go about getting rid of it? Again thanks for your help

  • That's not supposed to be there... maybe something wrong with the hairs transparancy map? Seems related to the hair.

According to others there is indeed a problem with transparency in DS 4.15.
You could try to lower the cutout opacity of the surfaces of your hair prop to 0.9 and see if that helps.

  • How did you render that? What engine? And where did the white background come from (so: was the render transparent or did you set up the background yourself)?

  • It was rendered transparent, I just went into photoshop and applied the background so the black grain is easy to see

Worse even, the problem isn't within DAZ at all, but in the new version of iray that came with it.  AS I understand nvidea is working on it and the problem has been mitigated to some extent in the subsequent iray builds.  Apparently the newer DAZ betas show improvement.  As mentioned, lowering the cutout opacity a smidge on the hair surfaces helps a ton.  I understand putting anything behind your character (dome, background, a building, whatever) also makes it go away although I can't confirm that.
