An ox to grind ...

I'm imagining the discussion before DAZ launched their "Year of the Ox" staff picks bundle.

"What have we got that sort of looks like an ox? Why don't we use this tetracovine thing?"

"It has four eyes and feet like a rhino."

"No big deal. Throw it in there."

I wonder if anyone knew that the Chinese word niú actually means a bovine in general, so anything vaguely cow-shaped would do equally well. But maybe they just figured that the Tetracovine, as a relatively new product, would be more attractive than the rather ancient Cow or Bull models. (Marguerite the Cow, who would have been perfect, is not a DAZ Original).

Of course, this would have been the perfect moment to launch the Millennium Cow, but they're obviously holding that one back for some other special occasion.

Gong hei fat choi (gong xi fa cai) to you all anyway.

"An ox to grind"... grinding oxen is illegal in my state:)

  • I owned 7 things in that bundle and the subsequent discount was laughable but then I no longer am seeing PC+ prices or appear to be in the club either in spite of signing out and clearing cookies several times. indecision

I am not particularly concerned as used my coupons already and don't need anything, an Ox and plow I would have been very upset at missing out on. wink

  • Well, being still somewhat new around Genesis 8(.1) I didn't have anything in the bundle so I picked up on it and I am honestly a little excited. Neo City looks amazing in my opinion, though I do think they could have done a bit better by also providing some default camera presets to help you get started. It's not a big deal, but would make things a lot easier. The only "downside" is that it's fully aimed at iRay usage so... 3Delight won't get you very far which I suppose can be both good and bad news ;)  Streets of Asia 4' is a lot better on that part because it's optimized for both iRay and 3Delight, which is a huge pro for me, though you do need to take care where you're going to set up your scene; if you don't you may end up with parts of the scenery to appear floating. But that's something I've gotten used to already :)

All in all I think this was a pretty good deal I think.

In NYS oxen are allowed grind on stage as long as the club they are preforming at ensures there is no full nudity and the stripper pole can support their weight.

The year of the ox indeed. I wonder why they didn't use Minotaur 6? In case anyone is interested, a bull will not allow himself to be yoked. He bucks against it continuously. So, they castrate bulls and call them "oxen," (although there are also some breeding techniques used as a non-surgical alternative). An ox will take a yoke because he has no witnesses (testes) for his freedom nor conviction of his independence (testosterone).
