  • Which installation method are you using?

Daz Studio has its own application files, which usaully go in the applications folder on the boot drive, plus content, which needs to go in user accessible locations (and which separates the default locations for store content and user content, after all you probably don't want to back up the store content and overlaod your back up storage) - and there are also settings in the Application data/support folder.

Did you maybe install DAZ once before and uninstall it, but not go back and make sure you removed all the files from every location you'd put them before?  I had basically this exact problem a long time ago and had to uninstall again, dig through both drives and get every last mention of DAZ out of there, since I had moved lots of files off the C drive because of space.  It turned out that I didn't have any idea what I was doing and had moved a bunch of stuff DAZ really needed onto the external.  DAZ software was a bit less secure back then I think, and therfore maybe more agreeable to having it's files moved around poorly and somehow references to where it thought I wanted my files to be had remained.  Long story shorter, after being positive there were absolutely no daz files or folders anywhere on my computer, and a registry cleaner to remove any reference to DAZ in the registry, just to be sure, I actually have no idea if that last step was needed, a fresh install of DAZ worked perfectly.

It's a safe bet in the modern day, you'll be up and running easier than that.
