Another Question about Victoria 4 to Genesis 2 :)

I love all of my hundreds of outfits and characters for Victoria 4 and I love Daz Studio!  I used Poser exclusively until 2 years ago.

I just had one of my Marilyn Monroe morphs and textures applied to V4.  She was so pretty.  Then I looked at V4's poor little disfigured arms.

I would love for someone to tell me the latest and greatest products out there to use V4 morphs on Genesis 2.

I have "V4 Skins Auto Converter for Genesis 2 Female" which works perfectly.

The V4 clothes usually are perfect!!

What I do not have are the morphs!!!

As I understand it, I need to purchase the following products (I, also, want M4 to Genesis 2 M:)

Genesis Generation X2

GenX2 AddOn for Genesis 2

Generation 4 Legacy Shapes for Genesis 2 Female(s)

Generation 4 Legacy Shapes for Genesis 2 Male(s)

So, if I buy these 4 products, I can make G2F look like my V4 characters and, also, make G2M look like my M4 characters?

I, also, use Genesis 3 and Genesis 8, however I am very happy using Genesis 2 since my V4 textures look so wonderful on Genesis 2 Female.

Thank you one and all!

You need at least the first two products (GenX2 and the Genesis 2 add-on).

You will also need these products for textures (You seem to have at least the V4 one):

    https://www.daz3d.com/victoria-4-for-genesis-2-female

    https://www.daz3d.com/michael-4-for-genesis-2-male

The legacy shapes are not technically required, if you don't have them GenX2 will use the clone morphs included in V4 for G2F / M4 for G2M products as the base for the transfer. But they might give you better results.

  • Thank you so much, Leana!!  I wish these were a lot cheaper.  I have the history prices of these items and I wish I had purchased them before now!!!

They're part of today's "love the artists" sale, in case you had not noticed.

Because GenX is pretty old now then it often goes on deep discount when the whole store goes on discount. There are also occassionally flash sales which give a % off an item that can also be used to grab any item. My guess is during March Madness it should go on discount of 50% or more at some point.

My advice is not too leave it too late, as it is very likely Gen X will stop working in some upcoming Daz release, maybe as early as DS 4.16. This is because they need to update the SDK used by DS in order to support Big Sur on Macs. The SDK change will likely break many plug ins until they are updated, and since the Gen X developer is unfortunately no longer with us, we can guarantee that will not get updated.

Of course DAZ may keep such an important plugin in the store even if it only runs on older versions, but I suspect not, as new users are going to buy it not realising that they could not use it on the latest release.

Very good advice!!  I did go ahead and buy it.  If it really helps me use V4 and M4 morphs on Genesis 2, it will be awesome.  The fact that the plug-ins may not work on future DS versions certainly concerns me.

Can I have two versions of DS on my computer?  That is a really stupid question, I know.  I can have as many versions of Poser as I want, I guess...I have two on my computer now.

I have 3 versions of Paint Shop Pro.

You can always sort of run two versions of DS, namely a release version and a beta version. You can also run a much older version as well (I think versions older than DS 4.5). However I am not sure you can run two recent release versions side by side.

Well, that is something I going to have to think about!!  I actually haven't updated to the latest version of DS.  I am using 4.12.1.118.  I don't really know how many updates I am behind on.

Do you think Daz3d will tell us if old plug-ins do not work?

I think they will say something, and if they don't it will soon be discovered by a host of forumites, so we would find out pretty fast either way

  • Ok, well that is good!!  I am having a wonderful time learning Daz Studio!!  I am in awe of what it can do!

A Poser user since 2005 and not a good one at that.
