is there a geometry reason mil dragon cant be face rigged?

is there a geometry criteria for older figures to be candidates for face rigging?

does iray do caustics?

is there any way to do uv swapping on poser content?  for example, new uvs for the mildragon?

    it is up to DAZ

Pretty sure it could be but only they can legally do it for redistribution

Maya can do UV transfer but again same issue, DAZ mesh

I might try Zprojecting it to Dragon 3 for my own use though cheeky

poser used to be able to link geometry swapping to a parameter dial.  iirc one of the old bar italia / pizzeria sets had it.

    does ds support geometry swapping?

if only dragon3 was face rigged.

mildragon is still my go-to dragon.

subdragon is kewl, but some poses makes his wings polys intersect. a weightmap might help with that.

  • Face rigs are potentially problematic with legacy figures as that rigging system has strict rules about grouping - a bone can affect only its own group and that of its parent, and a mesh group may touch only the parent and child bones' groups; that wouldn't support the kind of hierarchical face rig we see in more recent Daz figures.

DS does do Geometry swapping, I think, though it's had issues in DS 4 because of the chnage in the way geometry is handled and I'm not certain it's currently working.

yeah would need to be in duf format and likely general weight too as triax for so many bones difficult

all meshes could be rerigged but I don't think they would bother, a new one would sell better

we have come a full circle, back in the day I was an iClone user first and their figures are all face rigged

when I suggested it on this forum in the pre genesis 3 days I was informed of my stupidity by so many cheeky

I've found the subdragon also quite posable.

there's nothing special about the eye geometry for face rigging?

If you just need a subtile expression like raised eye brows , lip curl or  puckered kissy face etc.  you might try doing what you need with a deformer or mesh grabber. it might not be spectacular but it might get you what you need. you can keyframe deformers easily on the daz timeline you can use deformer in the puppeteer tool as well
