3Delight 75%

When using 3Delight (using progressive mode) the image looks like it's done rendering when it says it's at 75% but that last 25% takes a lot longer (sometimes 4x as long) than the first 74%. I'm just curious what the renderer is doing during this last 25%?

  • In progressive rendering it (progressively) narrows the focus - the first past does a few spaced pixels and fills the whole screen with them, then the enxt does the pixels between, and the one after that does the pixels between original and fill, and so on. At each pass it renders four times as many pixels, if I am counting correctly.

  • Ya, I wasn't sure if it was still doing that (just at a level that I can no longer see the difference) or if it switched to some type of fine tuning at the end.
