Big, chunky gloves for Genesis 8 Male

Hello everyone!

As the title says, I'm looking for some big, chunky gloves for my Genesis 8 Male. Something along the lines you'd find with a certain pilot suit from a certain Sci-Fi setting;

Of course I tried to search, but searching for "genesis gloves" didn't really bring me the results I'd like. Can anyone recommend me something?

  • MightyMite's store on Rendo would be my first stop for a flared glove like that, specifically. Perhaps "Kitbashers 062 MMG3M." Their kitbasher line has a lot of superhero and sci-fi stuff in it (048 is literally just Han Solo), and while most of it is for G3 it should work fine with minimal effort. You'll want to apply your own shaders or make your own textures for most of those items, though.

    There's also free M4 version of that certain pilot suit from that certain sci-fi setting, likewise over at Rendo. Do a freestuff search for "flightsuit" and it should be the first result. I've never used it and the thumbnail is tiny and severely underexposed, but from what I can see the harness looks halfway decent. May be worth downloading and seeing if the gloves are likewise and if so, can be fitted to G8M -- though with the caveat that gloves tend to fit wonky or worse, in my experience. But hey, it's free.

  • My bad; I only now saw that the image doesn't seem to work. This should work and is a better indication of what I'd like:

    At any rate, both of you, thanks for thinking along and making suggestions :) I'll see what turns up via those routes!

    Ah, so more like biker gloves? It really feels like that sort of thing really had its heyday back with M3 and M4, and M3 specifically for the gloves (the Born to Be Wild outfit), but there are one or two since then that you might give a try, although the quilting and armoring won't be identical. Perhaps the gloves that come with the Fermion Racing Suit would work?

  • Oh, those look quite promising! Thanks for the tip :-)

  • you could probably add a push modifier to thin gloves too

  • I've yet to use push modifiers, but those seem pretty useful :)

  • Another way with thin gloves might to be to use a geoshell around the figure and parent gloves to the geoshell rather than the figure. Then to alter the thickness you just change the geoshell offset. Will obviously need to make the Geoshell transparent in the render. [Then if it looks useful, could export the gloves in the new position with zero'd pose as an obj and re-import as a morph for the gloves for future use without the need for the geoshell.]

    Just another way to achieve a similar result to Wendy's suggestion.

  • Search for "gauntlets".  Wonderful cool and cold weather motorcycle gloves.  Only thing better is wired, heated gloves. (Or sitting inside a warm house watching others brave the weather.)

    I'll give that a shot. Seems workable :-)
