Content Missing even after Re-install

I'm pretty sure I've had this problem before, but don't have a fix fo it. DAZ content is missing in the Smart Content even after a fresh reinstall using Install Manager. Double-clicking the bad icons results in "Resource error" - Could not open file: File does not exist.

Where is it installed and what directories are setup in DS preferences?

  • Thanks for the tip, I messed around with those settings and it looks like it's smooth sailing from here. I can post them later if you'll think they'd help another user, but it's just as likely I made a rookie mistake.

  • It's always nice to share the solution to a problem because it might be able to help another random user.

Generally speaking (!) it's my experience that "missing content" is often caused by one of these options:

    • Contents is installed but doesn't have metadata, so it doesn't show up in the smart contents pane. Best starting point IMO is to check the "Products" section in your content library pane.
    • Your purchase cannot be installed through DIM. Quite frankly I'm not surre if this can actually happen, but while buying some Genesis contents I got a few warnings about items which weren't available through DIM, my order even lists this as well. I think it could be a "false positive" but... still worth mentioning I think.
    • Newbie mistake but I'm sure it happened to many of us: the item doesn't show because you have an imcompatible figure selected in your viewport. There are multiple solutuions for this but what I always do is rely on the content libtary pane again.

Hope this can still help a bit.

Products uses the database just like Smart Content so if CMS or the database aren't working neither will Products.  DAZ Studio Formats and Poser Formats will always show properly installed content.

Thats definitely not my experience. Heck, even some of the recent promotions contained items which do not show up in the smart contents pane by default ("Fireworks"). Which of course isn't too big an issue because there's always the content library pane. Even so, I've experienced this ever since I got started with DS, now an easy 7 - 8 years ago.

You are saying the same thing - the  Poser Formats and Daz Studio Formats trees in the Content Library show all content that is properly placed in a content directory, regardless of the database. It is possible for somethingt o fail to load from there, however, if the CMS says there is a Daz Connect isntall but the files are not in their location under the /data/cloud/ folder.

Doh... blush   carefully re-reading the post(s) again I can only conclude that you're right.

Apologies if I caused some confusion, that was definitely not my intention.
