Geometry editor : select only visible polygons
Hello there,
I've made some reseach, and either I don't know the right terms to search, or the issue has never been dealt.
A behavior of the selection for the Geometry editor looks weird for me, or I don't know if there is an option I've missed. Whatever selection mode I choose, the selection I make select all the polygons by transparency. But maybe it will be more meaningful with an exemle : A character wear a hat, and have hair. So I want to select parts of the hair that go throught the hat to hide them. But, when I make a selection on one side, polygons are also selected on the other side by transparency. So i have to align precisely the view to not make unwanted selection by transparency.
So is there an option for this tool to select only the visible polygons ?
Thanks

I'm not sure what you mean - that it selects all polygons under the cursor, rather than just the top layer? What drawstyle is the Viewport set to use?
I'm using the texture shaded style for the viewport.
To be more specific : admitting you are seeing the right side of the character. I want hat, by making a selection, only the polygons of the right side will be selected, and not the polygons of the left side (but that are in fact "under" the selection as you mentionned).
See my attachement for an illustration.
Is Use Symmetry checked in the Tool Settings pane?
No, it is not.
It select exactly everything under the selection. I mean if the view is angled, the selection will not be symetrical.
Does it do that on a sphere primitive? I just tested and it selects only the facing side in Texture Shaded drawstyle
Marque and Lasso selection does this, always has.
