Medieval or Ancient Prop People for crowd scenes?

Hi all,

I'm looking for some memory friendly people props in medieval or ancient clothing to use as a crowd for some scenes.

In the past I have used some models from the AXYZ website, but s far as I can see, they don't have any "historical" figures...

If any one knows of 3D prop people with ancient clothing so they would fi right in in Roman or medieval scenes, please let me know :)

I do know of some billboard products here on the website, but I'm looking for a full 3D solution.

If "historical" 3D prop people do not exist, is there a way of easily creating them myself? Meaning: use a Genesis figure, apply ancient clothing, some hair, an interesting pose and then converting the entire thing into one prop, with one texture map for the whole thing?

Thanks a lot,

Kind regards,

Me

Is there a reason for not wanting Billboards. I have used them a few times an, as long as it isn't in closeup, they work well.

    These two scenes use them.

Yes, though some billboards allow for a choice in angle which often comes quite close to the right one, I cannot use them in my workflow: I render each scene from a number of different angles using as many cameras as I need angles. I use a script that allows me to switch camera view each frame and then I just render the frame range as a sequence of images. It allows for all my scenes to auto render during the day while I'm doing my day job without much time loss due to deleting and loading scenes. If I were to do this using billboards, the crowd would only look okay from one angle, every other angle would be messed up. If I ware to change my workflow to batch rendering, treating every angle I need to render from as a completely new scene that needs to load in, after the previous one has been deleted, I would loose way to much time deleting and loading scenes, as for some reason, my scenes appear to be so complex they can take up to one hour to load. (And also up to one hour to delete... I tested it once, I'd rather not repeat it :) )

    Kind regards,
