How do get my viewport winow to be larger?

in The Commons
Hi,
I just installed DS 4.15.
In earlier versions I could make my viewport window larger by dragging the vertical line. Now I can no longer resize
either one.

Weird, it still works here.
Some panes have a fixed width while others have not. In the example above you could always click the selected pane tab which will collapse the entire side so that your viewport gets the maximum space available. Though it would seem that both sides also have a fixed minimum width.
All the panes do not have to be on the one side. Some could be moved to the other side and left tucked away if not in active use. The timeline many dock along the bottom.
I don't know about 4.15 yet, but with the other editions "which pane is active" played a role in how much I could narrow the group. Some panes require a lot more space so tend to be left closed unless in active use [such as Figure Setup].
Hi,
Very odd and inconvenient. It worked perfectly in the earlier version of DS but I can't seem to get it to work in 4.15.

Sometimes when D/S acts goofy with layouts, the solution is to change the layout to anything else, then change it back to the desired layout. Worth a try.
...while it involves a bit of an investment, I went to a dual display set up . All the frequently used tabs are on the left hand display while only the viewport and the render settings & scene tabs (stacked together) are on the other. Not a big fan of toggling back & forth between or expanding and minimising different tabs for workflow reasons. Some have gone to the new extra wide displays which is a more expensive solution and doesn't offer the same total screen area as dual displays do (I have two 24" displays, each which cost under 120$, whereas you can spend 300$ or more, sometimes a lot, for one of the ultra wide ones).
You also want to make sure the displays are identical (model and make) for calibration reasons.
Hi,
Thanks so much for the valuable info.
I did try another layout but had the same problem.
I do have a dual monitor setup so I'll try moving the tabs onto the other monitor.

Why not move the Viewport to another monitor on it's own.
I just opened my default 4.15.0.2 DS and I had the left side opened up very wide and the right collapsed. I opened up the right side, then went to the left side, moving my cursor to the lines between the tabs and the viewport, until I got a blue line and 2 arrows going left and right. Left clicking on my mouse, allowed me to move my viewport size.
Not sure if this will help you.
Under WIndow/Workspace there's a bunch of layouts you can choose or save your own.
Hi,
In case anyone has this same problem I fixed it based on the link below.
1-I changed the workspace to City Lights
2-moved some windows around.
3-Changed the workspace back to the workspace I had before the upgrade and now all is working as before.
