Check out these Genesis 8 and 8.1 male and female skin overlays

This will add some additional features to the skin of, hopefully, any Genesis 8 or 8.1 male or female character that's using either the old or new UDIM/UV layout.
It is a collection of Layered Image Presets that function on both the diffuse and, when apropriate, the bump channels of all outward facing skin.
It does not obscure details in the skin that were already there.
There are virtually no seams.
There are separate options for:
Skin Blotchiness, which also brightens the general tone a bit.
It's subtle. Try applying twice or adjusting in each skin surface.
Freckles for the whole body
Moles, which I tried to keep to a minimum.
Each set is hand painted and different from the others.
For G8.1 figures with color translucency mats and high translucency there are additional settings for that now. Please let me know how they work and I'll add this to the G8 folders as well.
I don't own any G8.1 figures besides the base male and female, so I can't really properly test this on anything. I am very curious to see how it works on other G8.1 figures.
* PLEASE DO NOT PUT THIS DIRECTLY IN YOUR DAZ LIBRARY *
You should be able to unzip this pretty much anywhere else on your computer and just point Daz Studio at the folder in the Content Library tab. If you're not sure how to do that, and you're interested in this project, you may just want to wait.
* If you tried out an earlier version of this, please remove that from your content before adding this one. I changed a lot of things and some stuff will not overwrite. It shouldn't cause any problem, it will just be messy.
Shown are renders for blotchiness, and freckles, as well as the combination of all options, on Genesis 8.1 Male and Female default figures. The G8 versions are a bit different.
All renders use default iray render settings. Default HDRI - no headlamp. As plain as I could to actually demonstrate.
It should not be shader specific, but I suspect that I need a revised version to utilize the high trannslucencies and color translucency materials in many figures.
I believe I have a version to address that, but I can't really test it properly.
I'll leave the link open here, until I've gotten some feedback. Thank you.

Note: The first several posts are from the very first version, that wasn't packaged correctly. I believe all is well now.

If I had to venture a guess, it looks like it is searching an absolute path rather than a relative path. I decompressed the duf file and did some edits, seems to have illiminated the error popup and shows no errors in the log. My fix:
I changed all the lines that are like
"url" : "/F%3A/3%20D/DAZ/My%20Characters/G8-1F%20Lie%20Preset%20Pack%20v1/Runtime/Textures/Spacious/Skin%20Details/Skin%20Details%20B%201001.png",
into
"url" : "/Runtime/Textures/Spacious/Skin%20Details/Skin%20Details%20B%201001.png",
Taking out the "/F%3A/3%20D/DAZ/My%20Characters/G8-1F%20Lie%20Preset%20Pack%20v1" part.
Ok that's what I was afraid of. Those files are all in the zip inside a folder marked runtime. It's looking for them inside my computer, and then inside the correct file structure. I think I see what I did wrong, but I'm not sure how to get it straightened out. Anyone know how to do it right? I'll search for answers in the meantime.
I did a before and after render, not getting that effect, so I think my "fix" may have just stopped it from loading lol.
Thanks for helping. Just remove that folder the reverse of how you added it and delete it completely if you want. There's nothing in there but the 10 png files and the preset duf that doesn't work. I found this OLD thread with answers that I should have been able to find before.
https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/28389/how-do-i-save-an-lie-preset-for-distribution
Looks like I have to text edit the duf file. I'll upload again when I can.
Oh, I keep an empty runtime just for testing stuff lol. I am always trying to edit stuff, and often times I have to get rid of what I did and start again because I mucked it up lol.
I had the misguided idea that because Daz saves and loads using relative paths that maybe I had it right on the first try. HA HA HA HA. It's especially funny to me because after making the preset in the first place, I completely rebuilt it from files that I placed in the correct file structure to build the zip. A whole extra step since I now learned that text editing is needed. Oh well, it did make the text editing much easier, and I'll probably just keep that as a step in the workflow.
It might be sorted out now if you, or anyone, are willing to try again. Fresh link above.
Still gettin the same popup box. Maybe the link didn't refresh yet? Gotta head to bed, will try to pop into the thread tomorrow.
It's a fresh link, I removed the old zip and uploaded a new one. Thanks for trying.
Edit: For some reason the text edits didn't save. That's sorted out now. Three's the charm?
Yeah, I think you got the workflow down now. no error pop up, or in log.
Thanks so much for your help. Great news to wake up to! It's a seamless texture that I painted in Blender. Now that I know how to package it, I'm planning to add a lot more options. Likely some moles, freckles, scars, maybe some tattoos. I actually don't have any G8.1 figues except the base male and female, and was really hoping to see what it looks like on Victoria or some other figures. I'm not really sure if they use the same dimensions of image files for their surfaces, or if that even matters. I'll leave the link live for a while to get some feedback and edit the post title to reflect that it works.
Only downloaded the latest version but can confirm that it appears to be working exactly as expected for me too.
This looks neat. I'll test it out on a Victoria 8.1 figure soon.
Thanks for trying it out! Glad it's working. Really hoping to see it on some more figures. I'm not even really sure how many figures are using the new UDIM/UV for 8.1, but it seemed like I should use that base for this project. I've done similar things for myself in the past for the G8 figure, but I hadn't figured out how to make them actally seamless at that point.
Yes. I would suggest keeping it separate from your main Daz Library still. Please let me know what you think.
is there a blending slider for this so you can manage the effect ?
If it's a LIE preset, you can change the opacity in the layered image editor, just like with tattoos, LIE make-up, etc.
I've posted a link to version 2 on the top. There are now seperate presets for blotchiness, freckles, and moles.
So far there are not settings for different strengths of the effects. I'm planning to add low, med, high setting for each of the effects when I've gotten them all together. If there's any way to make a slider to control them, I'd love to make that part of it. It is a LIE preset, and for now you would have to go into each of the material zones that are skin and adjust to your taste using the Layered Image Editor.
This is a very nice product. This is the blotchy skin preset
Thank you! I'd love to see more pictures from anyone who has used this.
This project has been massively updated. Now with options for both male and female figures as well as new better materials.
I will try to remember and check it out after shitty work tomorrow
This is great and very generous of you! Thanks!!!
These are nice. I'd like to see them for G8F, though.
Originally I started this project for Genesis 8. I ran into some trouble with the way the face mat joins the torso mat on the top of the head. On a whim I tried starting with the 8.1 figure and it's new UV/UDIM and it really just workes better. Theoretically I could just split the UV differently, back to the way it was on G8, and export new materials for the older figure. I haven't figured out how to do that yet. One of these days I will, just hasn't happened yet. If you know a super easy way to accomplish that task that I'm overlooking, let me know.
Slapped the freckle preset on this angry elf.
I think someone made a set of separate UV's though can't exactly remember who at the moment, will see if I can find them. I do know Blender can separate them, but just in case I'm wrong I will check on that.
I think I found some items that can help
This is instructions for getting a UV Map that's not layered, I think

This is a set of Maps for G8M

And this is for G8F

Let me know if this helps, if not I will keep looking.
The ITF Dev Kits are really great! They are incredibly useful and I love that they're free!
I'm in the middle of painting new materials for Genesis 8 male and female anyway. Maybe done tomorow?
I've got directions for how to project materials from one generation figure to another, It seems pretty difficult, and when I tried it i gave up. Likely it's easier with 8 and 8.1 because they are essentialy the same figure. Maybe I'll try it after I finish painting these. Then there would be double the options.
I've added presets for the Genesis 8 male and female figures. These should also work on any G8.1 characters that are not using the new 8.1 UDIM. Also G3 if you're using that.
I've also added presets for the translucency layer for the G8.1 figures. I think this should help with high translucency skins like most of the newest ones. Let me know and I'll add something like that to the G8 folders as well.
Thanks for the G8 versions! I look forward to trying these out.
