Japanese Neat Classroom Poses

What do you actually get with the Japanese Neat Classroom Poses?

The "What's Included" shows a character preset, but I couldn't figure out which character it was in the promos, along with the some poses and six (6) texture maps, and the main promo mentions an "add-on" and some props that aren't listed, but there are props in the Readme and File List.

I'm guessing we get poses, a notebook, a pen and a corridor prop.  Also, the poses probably don't really work so great without the Japanese Neat Classroom, so that should probably be a required product.

It mentions being compatible with Genesis 8 so I'd say the characters don't really matter as long as they're based on Genesis 8.

Not sure how you came up with the props because I don't see any mention of that being included. All you get are some character presets, poses and some texture maps, no props.

    (edit)

Looking at the product image I finally see what made you conclude the props being included. Yah, I don't look that much at product images anymore because I consider them plain out misleading in most cases. I would trust the summary over the promo image. Don't forget the disclaimer either about extra (non-included) items being used in that promo image as well.

Book and Pen. Along with the Corridor and Steps under environments and what appears to be some different configurations of room/corridor e.g. JNCP Four Story Building With Sub Wall.duf

What file list? I don't see any.

Unless you're referring to the list of promotional pictures, in my opinion all of them fall under the same shared disclaimers: external products were used to make those. I also see pictures of schoolgirls sitting in benches and I'm quite positive those props are also not included, because the store page itself also refers you to yet another product: the Japanese neat classroom.

Each to their own but I would advice you not to rely on promotional images and instead focus on what's being mentioned in the actual "What's included" section. Unless that section mentions actual props being included then I don't believe they will be.

    Just my 2 cents obviously.

If you click on the Readme link in Sevrin's post (or on the product page) it takes you to the document page. There is a link on that page to view the complete file list.

There is no readme link on the store page. Just to make sure I threw the whole page into both the Opera & Edge development section, nada. There are links to the documentation section, but those are part of the footer which is being used throughout the entire website.

(edit): Looked at your screenshots again, noticed the missing "Add to cart" icons. Concluding: you already own this product. I don't, and I don't have access to those links.

Also: I'm familiar with the "readme section" itself: you often get to see that after you purchased something and look it up in your purchase history. My problem with that though is that it's shown on the documentation wiki. A wiki which anyone can edit and which license / disclaimer clearly states that no warranties are given. Ergo: I would never use that as a source to base my purchase decisions on. This also wouldn't stand when you run into any legal issues (just mentioning it, Daz Support is very relaxed when it comes to refunds).

In the end there's only one page where you click "add to my cart" and that's the store page. So in my opinion you should base your decision to purchase on all the information which is given to you on that same store page, nothing else.

See: why wouldn't anyone add addition props to the "What's included" list and avoid any confusion?

Maybe I'm being too cynical, fair enough, but when I got started on the Daz market I've also had my shares of raised expectations which turned out to be false when I looked at the actual installed product. And when looking at "What's included" again it all perfectly matched.

I don't own this product (yet), if you look at the full first picture you will see the big green 'Add to cart' button (with the Wishlist button clicked). And if I did I would have acess to it via the information button in DIM anyway.

I'm not saying that your general point about trying to decide what's included in a product should be clearer on the front page/in the promos is invalid but just that there is a very clear way to clear it up if there is any doubt. Should we have to...no, but the information is available if you want to find it.

There's a link to the readme in the OP.  It's a wiki, but not just anyone can edit it.  If you try, you'll see.

There are mistakes in "What's Included" pretty often.

Also, the green "Add To Cart" to cart button is in the screenshot, but you have to open the attachment, since the forum software makes the thumbnails into squares, and the screenshot isn't square.

The link to the readme is put there by the daz deals browser addon. Very handy addon to have for the Daz store.

I did not know that, I have been using the addon for so long I just assumed it was part of the standard page. Apologies to ShelLuser for the misleading information regarding the availability of that link and thanks for the information.

No harm done, I also drew some wrong conclusions up there so as far as I'm concerned we're even smiley

  • I bought this set.  I've not used it yet, other than a quick tryout to make sure it worked.  I selected my G8 figure, and when I clicked on the pose she vanished!  I searched for her, and found her some distance away from her original position.  Obviously, she's been placed in a specific location in the Japanese Neat Classroom.

It would be nice if this didn't happen, because it's an irritation - I don't own said Japanese classroom nor do I plan to buy it. I don't need another classroom.

if you ctrl+click (cmd on mac I think) as you click the pose icon, you should get a modal window where you can unselect translation.

Ah, thanks.  I didn't know that.

  • Although this may be a special case, as the poses and scene go together, the usual practive would be to have the poses keep the figure at the world centre and then separate poses for placing them in the scene (which would also allow, for example, a sitting pose to be used on any chair in the classroom). It may be worth opening a ticket to ask if this is behaving as it should.
