Silly question- placement of items

Say I want to make a scene with, houses/objects far back in the scene on the horizon or far distance what is the best way to do it?

    You coukld zoom out in Top View, then when you add your props drag them from the content pane while holding down the alt (Opt for mac) key and you will get a target icon shjowing the point relative to which they will load - release mouse, then key to load there.

    In addition you could also rely on a so called backdrop if you have one (= a picture which gets displayed in the back, see the 'surfaces' tab for that).
