Import into houdini

Hello folks,

I am just starting with Daz Studio and I am having a very stange issue when i import the model into houdini. Mostly it all works great, except the eyes and hair dont transfer the textures correctly.

The eyes seem to have black shadows around them and also I have issues with hair textures not be applied to all hair strands. I am not sure if this is a problem caused the particular work flow i use or ot could be a model problem.

Any suggestions?
perhaps i could try a complete model created by someone else? (i am looking to purchase some models from the store, but I cant use them if this problem persits.

Thanks

  • Wiothout a picture it's hard to be sure, but I suspect you need to reapply the transparency map to the eyelashes - the lashes, before Victoria/Michael 8.1, are usually flat planes with a map to break them into hairs.

The issue with the hair may also be related to transparency maps.

  • Like Richard Haseltine said, without a screenshot demonstrating your issues it's hard to help. However, one typical problem with DAZ characters is that the eyes are built from overlaid geometry with next to zero gaps in between. Depending on the render engine you use, you may have light "bouncing in zero space", creating drop-out pixels (aka black areas).

On the SideFX support forum I have suggested work-arounds (e.g. adding a slight offset to the "outer", glassy, part of the eye).

Transparency/opacity settings may be a thing, too. Are you using the FBX route or are you using one of the DAZ importer modules for Houdini?
