Visible in Product list but can't be found in Content search

I have many products that are visible in the Product List (I can see them if I browse through the list) but they do not show up in a Content search.

It's too time-consuming to try to find things in the Product List (I have thousands of assets). What can I do to make them show up in the Content search?

    Which search, the Content Library? That doesn't use some of the things that the Smart Content pane does use.

    I mean the text search box in DS (in offline mode) that allows you to search for assets. If you search "hair" you get products with the word "hair" in the title. BUT there are MANY items in the prodcut drop-down list that do not show up in Content search even if they are visible in the Product list (the drop-down lists). Even if I know the name of the item, it doesn't always show up in a content search (the text box at the top).

    When I search "hair" only about 1/3 of my hair assets show up in the search results (some have strange names, so they're not being included, but some do have "hair" in the title and they still don't appear).

     

    Is there a tool (or a way) to categorize them so they show up in search? I can't spend an hour looking through the drop-down lists every time I need to find a specific item. I have thousands of assets.

    But which search box - the one in Content Library does not check as many attributes as the one in Smart Content.
