Selling other people's models with extensive re-work and improvements?

Hello!
Sorry if this has already been covered; the forum search here leaves a bit to be desired. If so, please link the topic.
So I bought an OBJ model of a really well crafted insect. As an OBJ, it was not separated into face-groups or rigged. It also had some anatomical issues, for example: 4 wings modeled as 2 (not separated).
Using Daz and Hexagon, I gave this model a serious and time-consuming overhaul. The model looks pretty much the same, but it is now rigged/weight-mapped, all the legs, wings, antennae, etc. are independent elements and can be manipulated as such, as well as several shaping and positioning morphs. I'm also working on some flight and walking animations.
Is this something I can sell here (if accepted by Daz)? Would I just need to get the original modeler's written permission?
Thank you!

Short version: If you have their written permission or the original licence permits redistribution of modified assets, yes. (Although expect Daz to be reluctant and probe that very carefully). Otherwise, no.
Perfect! That makes sense to me. Thank you!
