I have this stool and I'd like to use a metal shader just on the pedestal, not the seat or the base. But the prop has one single texture map, those parts aren't seperate. Is this possible?
With the object selected, select the Geometry Editor tool. Then select the part you want to change (lasso and marquee selection select through everything, drag selection doesn't)
once it's selected right click in the viewport, geometry assignment - create surface from selected.
Et voila.
