Scene Rendering Black

Can anyone assist me with why this scene with lights, the sky is rendering black? What settings do I need to change? Cheers

I can't really tell what you're using. It maybe a environmental dome in 3Delight, but your render mode is in Iray.

Can you turn your sky sphere invisible, by clicking the eye icon.  and render again..

    or

switch to 3Delight instead of Iray Render.

I don't suppose you were messing around with Canvases and forgot to turn them off ? Render settings/Advanced, next to the Hardware tab is Canvases. Make sure there's no selected check box or else you're likely to get all black or all white renders.

If those are Distant lights and you have a dome the dome will block the lights.

  • Many thanks for the replies. I have managed to render it in3Delight. But it took over 35 minutes. Why will it not render in IRay? Cheers

Is there a dome prop / skydome around the scene? Did you try hiding it and doing a test render?

The settings you are showing in your picture aren't really the ones that might cause this. Check under Environment. Is Environment Mode set to Dome & Scene, Dome Only, Scene Only, Sun/Sky Only? I still occasionally get tripped up by that one.

  • in render settings advanced beside where it says iray render try hitting the "defaults" this often fixes this black render issue.

also try filament view - set up light levels and environment options, this is basically a good view to tweak lighting,

then set your viewport to iray preview and often if some problem is making a scene black it will also happen in preview.... then as others say tweak settings on dome, environment, exposure

This looks like the culprit to me - delete or make that SkySphere invisible and it should render OK (but you will not have clouds in your scene anymore unless you use a HDRI with blue sky and clouds or add a suitable image as a background.
