HELMETS AND HAIR

I have a character that I want to put a helmet on over the hair and eventhough the software does what it can to fit it on the figure fine, certain parts of the hair poke through the top areas. The hair is longer than the helmet so I can't just hide the hair.

I have a mesh tool I bought so I guess I could just 'push' those areas down but is there an 'official/better' way of handling this issue within the software?

Not only do I want to fix this but am hoping to learn something new about the software as well.

    if you don't want to alter the mesh the other way is to render two images one with, one without hair, layer them in Gimp, Photoshop, whatever, add transparency to the top layer and erase the bits with hairs sticking out.

    You might also try a Push Modifier (Edit>Object>Geometry>Add Push Modifier) and edit its weight map (select the hair, Create>New Push Modifier Weight Node, with the Node Weight Map Brush tool active select the weight map in the Tool Settings pane, right-click in the Viewport>Geoemtry Selection>Select All, right-click>Weight Editing>Fill Selected at 0%, then set the offset to -2 (or whatever should be enough to pull the hairs out of sight) and paint over the bits you want to lose. You cana lso use dForms, again probably weight mapped (you don't need to add an access node for dForms) to selectively move or scale hairs (useful for things like tubes of hair, where a Push Modifier will just thicken or thin them).
