pwToon Error? - Renders in blue

Greetings!

I've run across an error which shows up on my 64-bit Mac but not my WinXP 32-bit PC, but I'm not sure what the source is.

I use pwToon on a character or scene. It does fine. I light the scene, usually with Lantios' Day Lights because it gives a nice look to the settings I have. Or I can use a generic lighting set. After a few test renders, my renders will shade to blue, as if a blue filter was put across the camera.

Thinking that it might be a lighting problem, I'll switch to a generic light setup. Maybe one of 3dUniverse's Toon light sets or something. Still blue.

I'll save the file and restart my computer. I've used 3D packages long enough that I know weird things happen in memory sometimes and it's good to restart. Open the file again and it still renders blue.

Seems like a bug specific to pwToon. Maybe something with 3delight? Just wondering if anyone else has come across this and if there might be a fix available. I think I have the most up-to-date versions of both DS and pwToon.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

did this always happen or is it a new thing?

Are your PC and Mac versions of Studio the same build? Daz3d sometimes changes the version of 3Delight being used without advertising it.

Does it go away if there's no environment light in the scene, just local lights (spot, point, distant)?

I was wondering about that too, Richard. I start with one of Lantios' daylight sets, then delete them, and add a set of three distant lights that come TheNathanParable offered for his Manga Shaders. It seemed almost as if there was an Ambient setting somewhere that didn't get reset when I deleted Lantios' lights.

Of course, that might not be the way Ambient settings are set in DS. In packages like 3D Studio Max and Lightwave, it's possible to set the Ambient color for a scene independent of the lights.

Using Lantios' lights with pwToon was something I first started on my 32-bit PC. It was a way to get a different look than the two-tone look in a lot of cartoons and anime. On my PC, I could do multiple renders as I tested and corrected how pwToon worked in the scene. On my Mac, I can do about 3 or so renders, then all of a sudden it's like someone put a blue filter over the image. Very odd.

StratDragon, the question about 3delight occurred to me too. I'm pretty sure DS on my Mac is the most up-to-date version. Or at least DIM hasn't told me it's time to update. Is there a way to check what version of 3delight I have?

I am jealous you can get PwToon to work at all. It does nothing at all anymore with the newest version of DAZ Studio for me.

Do you get an error message? Check the end of the log (Help>Troubleshooting>View log) just after rendering.

Richard, I get lots of error messages when I use pwToon, even on the PC. Here's a small sample of some of them:

WARNING: /src/sdksource/general/dztokenbuffer.cpp(1561): The token "float GlossinessStrength" already exists!

3Delight message #45 (Severity 1): S2072: the shader '/Applications/DAZ 3D/DAZStudio4 64-bit/shaders/pwToon.sdl' uses a different interface version. Automatic conversion was successful. It should be recompiled for better performance.
3Delight message #61 (Severity 1): R2385: vtransform() or ntransform() with a projection matrix will yield unexpected results (in shader 'pwToon' on object 'shapematerial_Face_1049_361')
3Delight message #61 (Severity 1): R2385: vtransform() or ntransform() with a projection matrix will yield unexpected results (in shader 'pwToon' on object 'shapematerial_Ears_1054_361')

The dztokenbuffer.cpp errors stretch up a ways and the the 3Delight messages go on for each material zones in the scene.

I was mainly asking Levonas, who can't get the shader to work at all.
