Sudden Menu Configuration Changes

Anyone know why suddenly the configuration of my menus and windows on startup would have changed? Minding my own business, then today I start D|S and suddenly the main menus have changed, no Scripts menu, an undocked set of panes I used to have are gone, the existing main menu subitems have changed, and the default "Dimension preset" in the Render Settings has changed (dimensions of the rendered image). I never did an F3 to change anything, it just happened. But it's the same "startup.duf" file I've always had.

Anyone know what's going on?

Thanks.

That sounds as if the layout files were corrupted somehow - one risk factor is force-quitting DS from Task Manager. Reloading the layout (if you saved it) or restoring the layout-related .dsx files in

    %AppData%/daz 3d/studio4/

from a  back up should get it back.

Okay, so I looked around and reloaded the "layout" I had been using (F4), and it's back to the last saved layout config. Unfortunately I didn't save/update that layout in recent years, so I have to re-configure it quite a bit. I had forgotten all about the layout customization stuff.

So I guess the question is, why isn't the layout saved as part of your startup file? Is it in a separate file somewhere? Maybe mine got lost or corrupted?

The session layout is saved in a set of files in %AppData%/daz 3d/studio4/ - it isn't stored in the scene file or everytime you loaded a scene the layout would potentially reorganise itself. You could, I think, use a script loaded at start up to tell DS to load a specific layout (but then you would lose any chnages made in the rpeviouss ession), though I can't recall the steps.
