Filament may not be a good choice for Daz Studio

Filament as a viewport preview in 4.16.1.2 public beta is much improved than earlier versions as a viewport preview renderer. It now uses less memory and crashes DAZ Studio less often (due to out of memory). It still does sometimes though.

I think I will try it again as my viewport preview renderer instead of the default texture shaded.

  • Is it possible to get fur to display on filament

  • Update:

    Best new solution:

Bridge to Nvidia's Omniverse. It comes with realtime RTX and iray, with same material. And it is free. iClone is already supported that.

The filament is not that bad either but Daz implementation lacks a lot of important functions for some unknown reason and this severely limits its use for final renders.

...the same holds true for 3Delight and Iray.
