Dynamic Supersuits question

I have all four Dynamic Supersuit sets and one thing has always vexed me: can I use them for other morphs besides M5 and V5?

Could I use them on Hiro5 or Aiko5, or on any of the other human shapes I have?

I have to admit, I was so literal-minded that it never seemed to occur to me until now to try them on a different body shape.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for any help provided.

It depends how different the shape you want to use is from V5/M5. It is possible to just run the drape a few more times if necessary, if once isn't enough, but if the shape is so different that the dynamic cloth won't fit properly, what you can do is run an animated drape instead of a single-frame one.

Start at frame 0 with the proper V5 or M5 shape (you might also need to start in the T-pose), then set a keyframe at about frame 25 or 27 (default animations have 30 frames) with the starting shape zeroed and the final shape dialled up. This does have limits, the cloth won't stretch too much, but you can get surprisingly good results with a bit of persistence. You might realise by now this can also be used for the original sets of dynamic cloth that were made for V4/M4. Not every clothes set will work well like this, but many of them do.

A tip; don't expect to get it right first time, this trick can get a bit fiddly.

Thanks, SpottedKitty. I'll give your tips a shot.

I know you caution against stretching the cloth... I guess that using a Freak morph might not be a good idea?

The Freak 5... probably not. The thing to be aware of is that dynamic cloth behaves completely differently from conventional conforming cloth. It doesn't pick up on the morphs of the figure wearing it — in fact, if you've tweaked the x/y/z scaling of various parts of the clothes to get a good(ish) starting fit, in the first frame of the drape the whole thing snaps back to its original scaling. If the difference is extreme enough, the cloth might snap right through the figure's mesh and start falling through the floor.

One thing you can try is scaling the figure to as close a match as you can get to the height it was before you morphed it; IIRC this is pretty extreme in the case of someone like Freak 5. Then when the drape is finished (if this trick works, it doesn't always) freeze the cloth (from the Options menu in the Dynamics tab) and scale the figure back up to what it was.

Note that this trick limits you to single-frame renders; freezing the cloth is not reversible, you can't drape it any more, so you can't set up an animation.
