That Trick with Elf Ears and Hair?

edited March 2021 in The Commons

I may have asked (or eluded to ) this question before, but I am trying to put hair on a G8F Head that has Elf Ears applied.  When I put the hair on, the hair goes "Over" as in, "covers" the ears and not "around" the ears like I want.

There is a trick to tell Daz not to conform the hair to the ears, but I can't remember.

or

If I am way off base, how do I make the hair go around elf ears?

The "standard" DO Elf Ears control has, I believe, got "Auto Follow" disabled in its settings. If you're using a different one, make sure that is indeed disabled.

(Alternatively, you can go to the item in question and dial out the auto-follow morph there, which is useful if you want auto follow on *some* items, but not others, or need to adjust its strength).

if it's a full body morph I just slightly dial in another elf ear morph on the figure so it also appears on the hair then negatively dial that one, then undial the extra one in the figure

    select the hair

go to parameters and click on the hamburger menue in the upper left corner of the parameters (the four lines stapled on top of each other)

    mouse over preferences

    select "show hidden properties"

then you find the ear morphs dialed in for your character in the hair parameters, dial them out and it should be fine

  • Pardon my igrnorance here...

But where is the auto-follow ear and ear morphs that are causing the conflict located again?

I got the show hidden properties ticked, and with hair product highlighted I am scanning for anything that looks like "auto-follow" and I juat can't seem to find it.

Right above the "SavageBraid" selected in yellow is "Currently Used"; select that and you should see the autofollowed morph.
