I am looking to make a game with some models I have found on Daz3d
I know I have to get a license to do so, but I need some one to tell me what I can use in games and what I can not

Like this

I would like to use this in my game but I don't know if I am allowed.
Do I have to get permission from the modelers?

Thanks

Having done a search in the store - http://www.daz3d.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=game - you will see that they game licences are not cheap.

Only those that are marked as being for game developers can be used and as mentioned already, it is not cheap.

If you are unclear as whether or not a product can be used for games, please open a support ticket here - https://helpdaz.zendesk.com/requests/new

The DAZ game license is for DAZ items only (top of the promo images to the left, the name of the vendor is there), not ones by the individual vendors. A few vendors have their own game use license for their own products.

The camera looks to be from a vendor without a game license (Age of Armour), so it is a no go. Also, most of the items in this store are designed for rendering/animation purposes and as such are usually to polygon heavy for any kind of game use.

If your game uses 2D sprites only and no mesh is involved, you can use any of the items here without a license. Hope that helps some.

Other vendors like 3DUniverse and Darofish have an extended license for their products for game development. The best thing to do is ask the PA directly about it.

Odd thought came to mind reading this and Legal isn't in-house today so I can't call up to them. What about PA products that have a vendor who offers a gaming license along with a vendor who does not. The product "A" is made by vendor "P" and "Q". Vendor "P" offers a gaming license. Vendor "Q" does not. Where does a product like this fall?

Not applicable for use I would assume. See the "what's included" tab on SIckleyields one for example, It stresses SY products only, no co-owned ones.

Thanks Cho. We've been at it all night (and most of the morning) to make deadline. My brain is a bit mushy and keeps going off on weird tangents such as this.

Woulda loved to use Digi-I's dinos in a small'ish game, but since he's kinda left the community I don't forsee that ever happening. =/

Yep. I added that after repeated requests on the forum for more PA's to offer them. Not a single person has bought one from me, so I'm not sure what that was all about.
