Clothing for G8.1

I'm wondering when I see clothing for G8.1F if works on G8F? I see where some items lists both.

    There is no reason why the clothing wouldn't work on G8F, the geometry and rigging is the same between G8.1F and G8F

    I read some posts in other threads that it brings up the Autofit dialogue loaded on 8 which is enough to stop me wasting money on anything only 8.1

    unless changing scene identification works

    not wasting my cash testing

    I can see where you are coming from and I kinda feel as you. I was just curious because I saw an item I liked. But if will only work on 8.1 then P won't bother. I have yet to even upgrade to DS 4.15 because of all the issues with it and I really didn't see much in 8.1 to make me switch. Outside of better teeth, expressions and body hairs it isn't enough to invest in. If there was a total upgrade to the base then it would be worth it.

    thanks Wendy

    it might not be 8.1 only, that's another thing, DAZ is dreadful at labeling stuff in the store correctly,

    They probably lost some sales as a result, I explicitly bought the Sylveren hair because it clearly lists G8.1F, G8F and G3F heart

    other stuff may support both but if not listed I won't buy it.

    If the autofitting dialog does come up, then using "Scene Identification" will make it a G8 item

    The same thing holds true for the majority of G3 and a lot of G2 items.  New users especially are wary of buying anything that's not labeled as suitable for the character they want to use it on.   And people with a large library rarely have a pressing need for...anything.  Do we need another reason not to spend money?  Besides, there's no reason to reward Daz or PAs who can't be bothered to take a momemt to make things easier to use.

    Changing the scene identification has worked on everything I've tried so far.

    I don't think the PA's are to blaim here, but marketing (as is the case quite often...) and whoever has made the templates used for the new products.
    Just look at the Compatible DS version that's mentioned on the product pages, everything DS 4.15 only, or how should this be understood;

    https://www.daz3d.com/century-nightgown

    Compatible with all the bridges but not DS?

    Could anyone elaborate a bit more on "changing the scene identification". Has that to be done in metadata?

    Edit->Figure->Scene Identification

    At the interface Change "Preferred Base" from the original to one you want, the button with three dots on the right will open a an other window where you can select the one you want.
