Iray and Nvidia GTX 770

Hello, I have two Nvidia GTX 770 installed and it seems they no longer work with Daz3D studio 4,15. As i mostly export to Blender, I haven't rendered in a long time so i don't know when they stopped working. When i render in Iray only the CPU is used. What can i do to get them back to work?

Thanks in advance.

Same case here. Fortunately I found a 4.12 backup and I stil can render with that version.

I think the 770 is Kepler?  NVIDIA's current Optix version s Maxwell or later architecture I think (someone correct me if I'm wrong).

    4.14.0.8 (November 10, 2020)

    • NVIDIA Iray
      • Integrated Iray 2020.1.1 (334300.4226); see this thread for more detail
        • REQUIRES: NVIDIA Driver 451.48 (or newer) on Windows; see NVIDIA Driver Downloads
          • NVIDIA recommends installing Studio Drivers
        • Adds support for Ampere GPUs (SM 8.0 / GA100)
        • Support for SM 3.X/Kepler generation GPUs has been removed - due to CUDA 11
        • Support for SM 5.0/"Small" Maxwell generation GPUs are marked as deprecated - matching CUDA 11

I'm guessing maybe your GTX 770's with 2GB of VRAM ran out of VRAM due to the scene requirements maybe? You can check the D|S log file (Help/Troubleshooting/View Log File) and see if it mentions anything like the GPU's failing and it fell back to the CPU. And you can check the D|S usage of the GPU VRAM in Task Manager if you're on W10.

The video cards are 4gb each. I did a short render and the log doesn't mention anything about the GPU's at all. (Log file attached)

Unfortunately, i don't have a backup. Any idea where i could download the 4.12 version?

You sure your GPU's are selected for rendering? The log doesn't even mention them. It does have some "unsupported function" calls for the hair, but not sure whether that's important. Maybe that's related to the unsupported Kepler? But I'm not sure if unsupported Kepler means it will flat out not work, or work with limitations, or still work fine.

Yes they are selected and in Blender (Cycles and Evee) they work just fine. I find it strange there isn't even an error logged. I guess there will be no other way then to find the older 4.12 version which seems to work with the GTX 770 cards. Thanks for the help anyway.
  • Kepler cards are history with Iray.

So it seems. I asked support for the 4.12 version. Hope that will help.

The log you posted didn't include the information written during starting up DS, this is what is found in the log with a supported GPU

I checked the log after startup and it  says the GPU's aren't supported.

I asked support for an older version (4.12) and hope that will get me back to rendering with the GPU's.

    Thanks for your help.
