rigging Fibermesh Facial Hair with Content Utility

Marmalade BoyMarmalade Boy Posts: 103

Hi there,

I am trying to rig facial hair from zbrush; I am able to rig the hair but if I apply a smile pose or any facial movements around the mouth for that matter the hair does not move with it. Does anyone know how to rig facial hair and have it move with the facial pose?

Thanks in advance.

You need to use the transfer utility and check morphs and before loading it on your figure enable autofollow

    Hi wendy♥catz,

Thank you for the reply...I selected Shaping and Pose for the morph targets but for the life of me cannot figure out how to access the parameters for the new rigged item to ensure auto follow is ticked off. I can access the parameters for everything else by clicking the little cog but as this item is not listed in the shape tab, I can't access it. Do you know where I can find it?

Well HOT DAMN!! That did the trick...I really appreciate your assistance with this...not to mention your extremely fast replies! Many thanks. For those of you who are just finding this post, I have documented my process below.

    1. Using GoZ, I send my figure to Zbrush and created the hair using fibermesh.
    2. I sent the hair (sub tool) back to Daz using GoZ as a new item.
    3. Used transfer Utility I rigged the hair using - Source-->scene item: Genesis / Item Shape: current / Target--> Scene item: my hair geometry / item Shape: Default / Projection template: Hair> short
    4. I clicked on Show Options>> and made sure Weight Maps, Selection Map Face Groups Region Groups Morph Targets and Reverse source shape from target are all checked off
    5. Clicked on the name Morph targets to get the options...in the Extended Options panel; I changed the options from none to Shaping and Pose. Unchecked Fit to Source figure and clicked accept.
    6. Once the hair has been rigged, I selected it, went to the Parameters tab, clicked on the little box on top to get the options/menu and clicked on edit mode.
    7. With the hair still selected, I clicked on Pose Controls to expend it, clicked on Mouth, which will display all the sliders for the mouth, clicked in the little white space in front of the first slider, scrolled down and shift + click the white space in front of the last slider...this turn the white spaces orange and place an M in the middle of all of them.
    8. I then right clicked (the right mouse button) in one of the orange spaces to displayed the menu items and went down to Auto Follow and selected Enable Auto Follow on Selected Properties.
    9. I repeated this process for Visemes, Expressions, Cheeks and Jaw, Eyes and Brow. Obviously, with this hair I didn't need the eyes and brow but what the heck.
    10. I then fitted my hair to the figure and tested it…worked like a dream!
I hope this explanation help other who are rigging their hair items.

Thanks a lot for the link and the image results in the other thread!

I was even exploring the "edit" mode earlier today, found nothing and moved on.
Really hidden well this autofollow function.
