Upgrading hardware - graphics card?
So, I am buying a new laptop, and I want one that is going to make my life with Daz easier. I have read that the more GB the better, but also that the higher the card's number, the better. I am looking at a few machines within budget, and have narrowed it down to 2. So should I get a 2070 with 8GB, or a 3060 with 6GB?

Depends on how big your scenes are. Small scenes: 3060 is maybe 20-30% faster. Bigger scenes: 2060 drops out, MUCH slower. Big scenes: both cards drop out, doesn't matter.
Note that the laptop versions are often different from the desktop variants. I'd check that the laptop 3060 is actually faster than the 2070.
Personally, I'd lean towards more Vram. And enough system RAM, 16GB should be minimum to feed an 8GB card.
Also note that bigger number isn't always better. The nvidia number system is "generation, then size". 2070 is generation 2, size "70". 3060 is newer, but lower tier. I'd expect a 3060 to massively beat a 2060, narrowly beat a 2070, but not a 2080 (the 80's are the big guns. The new **90 is the 'who cares about money' tier. 50's and lower are not intended for serious work)
6 gig is the best choice of the two, but that is still pretty limiting
