DForce, no Stabilization Time for animated sim modes?
Is there a reason Stabilization Time is only available for Current Frame dforce sims, but Initialization Time is always available? Haven't been able to find another thread about this if it exists.
For context I'm using DForce for dynamic hair, I set up a 2 frame animation to bring an object that would otherwise clip the hair (a mattress in this case,) towards the character's head to have the hair collide instead of clipping, without using a big chunk of the timeline since it is intended for a still shot. What would be perfect is running the sim in Animated (Custom) set to those 2 frames, with plenty of subframes to get a nice collision; then let the sim stabilize for a while to get a good overall drape. However, in both Animated sim modes Stabilization Time is not available, and doing the opposite of the process I described above with Initialization Time instead causes problems as the hair does not have time to drape once the head has moved in the animation..

I can't answer the "why" part of your question, but I know how to get a similar result. With timeline (animated) dForce simulation, you just add extra frames after your final pose frame, to let the dForce stabilize.
Sure, but it seems like a clunky workaround. It isn't a big hassle to duplicated changes you make to the final pose, just feels unnecessary when the feature already exists.
I would think the expectation is that a Timeline simulation is intended for animation, so the actual play range is the desired output and settling time is irrelevant. If you want it to be available you could put in a feature request https://www.daz3d.com/help
Might do, thanks!
