Michael 8.1 vs Genesis 8.1

Is there a difference in these 2? If I get Michael, do I automatically have Genesis 8.1? or, do I need to purchase Genesis 8.1 and then add Michael? I don't understand how they  can say that Michael is compatible with Genesis 8.1 male if I can't find a generic Genesis 8.1 male?

    Yes, there is a difference: Michael 8.1 is a character for Genesis 8.1 Male, with his own shape and texture.

    Genesis 8.1 figures are available for free as part of the Genesis 8 starter essentials included in DS. If you already have those installed then uninstall and reinstall them to get the latest version. Also reinstall the default resources pack to get the new PBR shader.

    Thank you. I have not found  the starter essential,  but now  I know to at least look. I see
