WMP "playback"

When I play rendered bryce anis in windows media player the playback is very jerky at best. The playback doesn't match the time indicator as well (can't be a memory issue with this new pc). The one remedy I've used was to bring it into windows movie maker to reformat it by making a "movie" out of it. This has worked and they've playback normally...
Is there any other way around this without getting more programs? For some incredulous reason, neither windows movie maker or movie maker live will install on my windows 7! WMM comes with XP but they dropped it with 7. I plan to get Corel's video editor but that's pretty far down the road.

have you tried using VLC Player to play back the files?
While I do not use Bryce, I avoid rendering to avi or mov in my apps too
image series is the way to go, then recompile it virtualdub I use for uncompressed avi to composite in WMM with other clips if I want wmv
or Hitfilm (the free facebook "like" version) to go straight to mp4 but any video editor is sweet.
Codecs are you main issue rendering to a video format, image files avoid all the pitfalls inc loss of quality and renders that crash losing the lot, not that Bryce ever crashes ONCE it starts rendering I have heard, but the power could go off or a plug get knocked out of socket vacuuming
That's over my head Wendy. But just got VLC and it appears to work. First attempt did same as wmp... but it's playing smoothly now. Thank you.
Media Player Classic is great, can play almost everything:

Maybe someone has a free video editor like windows movie maker!?
I would recommend anyone doing video to get this.

I have used it for years and have very little trouble with video playback.
To make my videos I use Vegas Pro 12 (which I notice is now at 13 :-) )

But there is a cheaper one.

Hmm, I see Corel dropped their price https://store.videostudiopro.com/1184/purl-ATG_PID_Redirect_VSproX7?hptrack=ussovsp
About the same as movie studio. I'm all set with audio Editing...
Which one would yous get? I think the Corel package is a little better. But there's one effect I must have which was in WMM. The old, older, oldest feature Along With the Threshold effect. Looking for that old time/gothic feel.
The Sony one started off as an audio package so you can do the audio and the video at the same time or separately and then combine them. It has audio filters, you can combine video, sound effects, speech and music all at the same time. It has an audio editor built in and audio effects which you can add per sequence or to the whole track. You can do voice overs in real time and go back over them from any point you made a mistake and re-record that section. This is in the Pro one but I don't think there is much difference between it and the cheaper one. I would download the trial version first and see if you like it. The learning curve is a bit steep but easy to follow and once done it is easy to remember.
I don't know about the Corel one though.
