Which shader does MR Layla use?

Does MR Layla use Iray uber or the new PBR shader? I think she's pretty, but 4.15 uses so much extra VRAM, it's crazy.

Layla is using the PBRSkin shader.

Really? I haven't noticed a big change in the amount of VRAM.

Looks to be 2GB extra... At least it was for the scene I tested.

Seems to me that 4.15 also use a lot more RAM (I currently only have 8 GB and it's swapping like never before).

There's extra code to screw up opacity now.

    it certainly doesn't improve it.

    4.15 compared to which version?

Starting with 4.14 Daz alters how normal maps are handled, and this in turn has given a dramatic speed increase for scenes that have normal maps. It is a very noticeable boost, especially on long renders. IMO it is worth a little extra RAM, but I have not observed scenes jumping 2GB more than before. I'm talking maybe a couple hundred MB.

I am not technical, but I did a very basic test loading a few figures in 4.12 and then the same scene in 4.15 and 4.15 uses like 2GB more memory. I don't know if the increase is the same when using other figures/props, but enough other people have complained about the 4.15 memory increase to make me think it's not just me. And I do use an older gpu, so that's an issue. I wanted to get a better one this year, but the shortage has made that unlikely.

Since we have no way of knowing how many "a few figures" is, that's not helpful information.  What is useful is how much more a single figure with PBR skin consumes and what maps are active on the figure compared to the same figure with Iray Uber skin and what maps are active on it.

OMG, now I understand why I can't render scene's anymore I could in december when I started. Working with just 4GB of VRAM, it would've been nice if they would have given an heads-up about this. Is there anyway to get 4.14 again? Or is even a better idea to get an even earlier version, which is the most memory efficient? Can you run two different versions on one system?

Ugh, if feel your pain about upgrading, I heard there is no end in sight to the high prices untill crypto currencies plummet.

I wasn't using PBR shaders at all. I think there were 3 G8Fs and Urban future 5. One of the figures was on subD 2 (the one closer to the camera) and the rest were at subD 1. They all had hair and clothes, with textures reduced (to 1k) and normals/ bump removed for the lower res figures. I am not interested in testing the issue again, but you're more than welcome to.

    *Edited to clarify somewhat.
