hello i'm getting interested in "HD" characters but i want only really detailed characters, which i means things like pores, wrinkles well those stuffs and not only face but full body, then anyone which know really good hd detailed characters you would share your recommendations????, to not make it a huge list for each user, you can choose to link up to 5 characters you feel are really detailed or link for exemple a artist which you know the big majority of his works are detailed adding at last 3 from him which you feel diservers to be linked, not only female but if possible and high recommend to link males too, if possible at last 2 of the 5 character to be male or if a full female list make sure to be at last maybe from different races, like asian, caucasian, arabian, well you know if possible too, i really want/need a good colection of very detailed male and female hd charaters, they must have a very detailed normal map and be very detailed sculpted.

any recomendation is very welcome.

ps: the characters must be genesis 3, 8 or 8.1 since all of then share the same uv map format(are in general compatibles)

Most, if not all the characters sold for Daz Studio get their HD from the proprietary tech only avaliable to the PAs with normal maps only being used for enhancing the small details. The big issue is that the HD tech from DAZ doesn't work outside Daz Studio and since most know that all you use assets from DAZ is for game design, that will probably be an issue.

it's not a issue when i can just "bake" the details using substance paint for exemple here my classic "orc exemple"

you can bake "hd details" into a normal map in substance paint then merge this baked normal with any already existing normal map from the character and create a new full normal map with all the details of both maps, of course you still can't use the character in hd itself but baking the details into normal maps do the trick perfect since only a ultra zoom level would make the "details fake" noticiable otherwise you can produce really good exemples baking the details to a normal.

ps: the way i did in the exemple is a "old dated one", it was without merging both normals maps in substance paint.

i've already generated some hd details maps from some hd characters which i've brought from some "pro bundles" and some crazy sales, but since i was still "new" to baking i feel whcih the ones i got some were good others not then i need more good exemples.

Though, things like Unreal can use something DAZ for some reason can't, which is Tesselation.

Which is generally better for game engines than just multiplying the polycount. Tesselation maps can be made pretty simply using a method similar to the one the post above sugests.

Soo, it's debatable if game engine users (for gams AND animation) even want or need the special HD details. Though if you really did, the base can be exported at whatever polycount.

yeah here's the full orc exemple a low poly orc mesh 28k vertice, using baked normal map, ambient occlusion and all the maps to make it more "high poly, i'm using only the base mesh not the level 1(which is possible to export using the bridge pluging).

as you can see the mesh is well detailed, here the same mesh without base collor just the "details (baked) maps:

now the image without any map just the mesh:

this is why having good hd characters (level 3 or more) with strong normal maps can generate a really detailed character even at a low poly model.

I believe iSourceTextures uses photoscans of real skin, and I'm usually pretty impressed by the quality of their models. The downside is that, I guess due to the technique they use, material options are usually lacking. There's never any translucency settings, for instance. Still, I bought over twenty by now, so they must be doing something right.

I was impressed with the new Belkah HD that HM released.  Take a look at the clay renders/full body renders.
