How to remove artifacts made by MRL Warrior Hair & hair caps in general?

I discovered (to my chagrin as I had a great final render otherwise) that the hair cap accompanying MRL Warrior Hair appears to reveal micro-fractures or something with the skin (see attached) producing black lines or artifacts. I use the Brow Remover and thought that might be the problem, but the cap even produces issues with some base models that have a few morphs and original eyebrows. The pic attached is a minor issue -- the one I had a real problem with wear six or seven long jagged lines on the upper forehead. Has anyone else encountered this problem? What can I do to solve it? Idk if its the hair cap or the skin that's the problem. I often use realistic models (the base model below is ACJessica from Digital Creations) and have encountered the problem even with models from Daz, such as Cateleya HD. Unfortunately, I didn't notice the issue until long after I bought the hair, but if it is the hair something should be done because it doesn't work with HD skins.

Looking for help,

Hexdrake

If the hair has a morph to adjust the forehead, use that. If it does not, you can use the Mesh Grabber product to adjust the mesh yourself from within Daz Studio.

Sometimes changing the Render Settings Instancing Optimization from Auto, Memory, or Speed to another value will help.

If you have moved your character far from the world origin 0,0,0, that can also cause the problem; move it back.

This is a common problem. There are many forum threads about these hair cap artifacts. Those threads may have additional suggestions. A Google search may help you find those threads if my suggestions don't help.

  • Thanks, barbult! I'll try that. You were a big help, as usual!

If the hair has an overall size adjustment in the morphs usually an increase in size of a few percent, e.g. 3% to 5%,  will eliminate these.black lines.

If the hair cap does not have any adjustments you can add a push modifier.  Regardless of the method used you want to use the least ajustment possible.
