edited December 1969 in The Commons

There is a white box where the library panel is supposed to be and it say’s blocked plug in. I can’t access any of my models or other. Poser 2012 Help is greatly appreciated! Thanks

Try updating your Adobe flash plugin (www.adobe.com)...

The Library panel uses Adobe Air so try updating that.

Lots of things, lately, have taken to outright blocking 'old' plugins. In other words, old plugins will completely cease to function and so will anything that relies on them.

Yeah, you gotta love that enigmatic warning: "Blocked Plugin".
Who exactly was supposed to understand what that meant?
Yeah, if you get that the library runs off of a plugin and that blocked means no longer supported...
Otherwise that sounds like some sort of error or that a plugin is infected and attempting something that it is being blocked for.
Would it have killed someone to add "Please update Flash Player" so people not versed in such lingo may also understand?
Many people have been puzzled by that warning.

As someone has to support a lot of Macs, I actually appreciate when system upgrades block insecure plug-ins. The thing is these are 3rd party plug-ins so one could end up with a million possibilities of why the computer misbehaves. In the case of the Adobe plug-ins, you should be getting regular updates as they learn of vulnerabilities but any customization has to be re-added after a major upgrade such as version change in OS.

OK I've updated Flash and Air but it still says Blocked Plug In in my Libraries. I've restarted the computer and nothing. I have Poser 10 and Poser Pro 2014. How am I supposed to know what to take out? I buy all my content from Daz so I can't figure out what the issue is.
    HELP!!

Sometimes the Flash update works but the only true solution is to update or reinstall Poser using Smith Micro Download Manager !

  • edited December 1969

I was just thinking of doing that since it was working fine last night and when I opened it this morning BAM! My work gets put on hold. I'll check back after I try updating/re-installing Poser.

OK I have re-installed Poser 10, updated Flash and Air and restarted. It was working fine last night and this morning I got blocked. Anyone have any other options please?

Maybe post this on the official SM forums at RNDA? http://forum.runtimedna.com/forumdisplay.php?332-The-Official-Poser-10-Poser-Pro-2014-Forum

There are official SM employee-type-folk over there. :)

For what it's worth, Safari and Poser use the same flash plugin (while things like Chrome use a different one). Are you sure you updated the right flash player?

    Today is 5/29/2015 in France
So you are asking help for Poser in Daz forums...

My version of Yosemite is 10.10.4 (14E26a) -the last beta-
My version of Poser is Poser Pro 2014 10.0.5.28925
My version of Flash is 17.0.0.188
The Editor of Poser is Smith Micro, not RDNA but they are selling it also.
The solution proposed on the forum of RDNA is to install the LAST version of Flash (actually 17.0.0.188) but it is not always the remedy.

One day, after installing a Service Release for Poser 10 using the Poser installer on Mavericks,
I got a "white box where the library panel is supposed to be and it say’s blocked plug in for me"...

I tried to reinstall the last version of Flash and it worked fine until the next reboot...
I tried to reinstall Poser 2012 and it worked fine until the next reboot...

For some reason I decided to reinstall Poser using (as I said previously) the "Smith Micro Download Manager": it is the SECRET !
Tried to use the "old" method to verify and understand and the problem reappeared !

ALWAYS install or update Poser(any version) with the "Smith Micro Download Manager": it seems to be the ONLY reliable way to set correct privileges for Flash in Poser whatever the version you use, but I think that while the Flash privileges are restored, it is up to you to install the last version of Flash.

So you MUST install (if it is not the case) the LAST version of Flash(17.0.0.188): Apple no more authorize using old version and you need it to use embedded library.

    FYI in Poser:
if you choose 'Preferences>Library'>'Launch Behavior'>'Embedded' (this is the default value): ==> You must install Adobe Flash
====> Poser will use Flash to display your libraries contents embedded in the Poser interface

if you choose 'Preferences>Library'>'Launch Behavior'>'External' (Floating window): ==> You must install Adobe Air
====> Poser will use Adobe Air(i.e Poser Pro 2014/Runtime/ui/AIR and Flex to display your libraries contents in a floating windows(and it always work).

NOTA: You have to restart Poser to use the chosen library manager.

Give it a try: USE THE 'SMITH MICRO DOWNLOAD MANAGER' (or resign), DON'T USE the stand-alone installer.

I guarantee it worked for me on my 2 Macs and 5 other Mac users of my friends...

    Hope it help.

I actually did just that and it works fine now except for having to redo my library. Now i'm having issues with the DSON importer so that's my next attempt.
Thank you for the info. I'll keep all that in mind next time I have issues.

I spoke too soon. I did reinstall Poser 10 through the SM download manager with all including files. I installed the latest Flash 17.0.0.188 and as soon as I started up Poser it worked fine, got my library in order and was ready to work.. I went away for a couple hours and when I returned it was Blocked Plug In again. This is getting beyond frustrating. What am I missing? Also in Preferences/Library there isn't any Launch Behavior. Only under document and Interface but neither of them show Embedded or External. Only Launch to Preferred Scene or Factory Scene. Where would I find the Embedded option?
Thanx for your info. I'm not giving up. I need this for my work.

Sorry for the delay, I was at my office.

Attached a capture of the Poser preferences panel where to set the external library: you will be able to work anyway.

    What you can do:
-Make sure to disable any firewall BEFORE installing Poser with the Smith Micro Download Manager and/or the last version of Flash.
i.e Apple Firewall, LittleSnitch etc.. and restart your Mac immediately after installation.

-Something is resetting the wrong permission for using Flash inside Poser, so try to disable startup files: it's not user related so creating a fresh new user to install Poser doesn't help, you must search in the common OS X library.

-You can also try to totally remove Poser preferences (not the libraries) before installation.

Finally, visit the page, I think it can help:
    https://support.smithmicro.com/customer/portal/articles/1982323-drag-and-drop-not-working-with-latest-flash-update?b_id=8847

    Good luck

Thanx for your reply. I finally got it working and the Libraries load just fine. NOW I'm having issues with DSON Genesis figures. When I load a Genesis figure it shows it's loading but nothing shows up, like it's invisible. It says it's there and has all the morph options but it's invisible. Any ideas? I installed DSON through the Download Manager and the Genesis figures into Poser 10. It worked before I reinstalled Poser.

  • edited December 1969

Sorry no idea I don't use DSON in Poser.

  • edited December 1969

It's a new thing for me but I like the Genesis figures. It's just another Thing I have to figure out. Thanx!

That usually means Poser isn't finding the files from the DSON core package. Assuming you installed that, is the \Data folder in the same place as the \Runtime folder?

  • edited December 1969

Ah good question. I didn't see anything in the Application Poser10/Runtime but there is one in the Poser 10 Content and I also have a folder called My Daz 3D Library, both in Users/Shared. Which Runtime folder should it go into? I'm assuming into the Application? The DSON folder I found contains DSON/auto_adapted/(2 folders)content_files - data/ and then all my Genesis files for characters.
    Thanx for the reply.

The Data folder should not be in the Runtime folder, it should be in the same folder as the Runtime folder - a sibling, not a child. Items will load more quickly if it's in the first Poser external library folder (usually the Poser # Content folder, where # is your Poser version) but as long as Poser has been told to look in the folder that contains the Data folder it will work. So if you have \An\Example\Path\Data then you must have set \An\Example\Path as a Poser Runtime location.
