[How can I change the .jpeg texture files from an old v4 character zip to .duf?] Is it a simple process? Can someone give me a quick tutorial on the process please.

You can't - DUFs are not a texture format.

However, there shouldn't be any need to change the texture format. JPEGs are still entirely usable as textures.

The .jpg files are for the skin textures and I'm assuming you want to save and apply these textures by in DS. If that's the case, have them applied to your figure and save them as a Material Preset to your library. You'll then have an icon in your Content Library to apply the texture set. The saved material preset will be a .duf file.

K is there a chance you could give me a few screenies on how you'd change skin texture .jpeg's into .DUF's? sort of having trouble here and pls don't worry about adding it to anything at this point I just want to see how the file change is done.

Are you planning to reuse old V4/M4 skins? Due to UV issues, I'd recommend you just use additional products by Cayman Studios that will let you use your legacy skin textures on the newer Genesis figures.

you are talking about apples and oranges here.

duf is not an image format, it's a DAZ character, prop, scene, material. shader preset

the duf shaders mostly use jpegs

K gottit but is there a way to simply convert .jpeg to .DUF is all.

You don't want to convert jpgs to dufs. You want to convert the MAT poses (pz2 or mc6) to DUFs.

    Load the model.

    Load the MAT pose

    Save as a DUF

mc5 is entirely different and there's not a simple way.

You can save as a Materials Preset after applying the Poser materials, but what for? It wouldn't chnage any proerpties so the net result would be the same.

Also, please see Please put your question in the post body and the title - Daz 3D Forums as I keep having to edit your threads.

No idea if that's what the OP wants to do, but if you want to use V4 textures on a Genesis 2+ figure (provided you have a product to provide the needed UVs) you need to convert the presets to .duf first.

Ah, yes - I had forgotten about that. Thank you.
