Need An RTX Card?

Hello everyone :) As we all know it is near impossible to get a hold of an RTX card @ retail price nonetheless even find one in stock.

I've had some success with the following and decided to share it with those who were not aware.

Granted this takes some babysitting but if you are already sitting at your PC working on your art then there's no harm in having an extra tab open.

It's pretty straightfoward and there are even sound notifications. The feed will notify you as soon as there is a drop of restock of RTX cards.

There is an even a discord you can join as well that alerts at a faster rate than that of the Twitch channel.

FAQs:

"Well Parallax, this seems great and all but there are over 1k viewers I have to compete with that are after the same items I am after."

Well that's true but most of them don't take the proper measures to be efficient when it comes time to attempt to buy a card once they are in stock.

"Fair point, but what can I do to have an advantage?"

1. Have accounts at Bestbuy, the Zotac Store, Newegg and Amazon. Keep them all logged in with payment information saved.

2. Make a wish list at each of them of the RTX cards you are after. That way, one there is a stock drop you avoid wasting time searching the store for the ones you want.

3. Do not use bots or scripts no matter what you read in the chat on that channel. Stores are banning IPs if they identify either is being used.

4. Patience.

5. Zotac tends to drop stock more frequently than the other stores mentioned but their website is absurdly slow and will crash during a stock drop due to the amount of other shoppers there. They drop stock usually after 10PM EST several times a week.

"Parallax, why would you share this information here knowing that it will make it harder to get these cards now that there will be more people watching the channel?"

My answer is that many lack #4 and not everyone is online at the same time, have the money ready or are shopping for the same exact model card you are after. If I can help a Daz customer get a hold of a GPU they need for their art then that's amazing to me.

Many that are active in that Twitch chat are very helpful and not all of them that are there are "contenders".

Lastly, if you already know of this - then great. You'd be surprised how many do not. If there was already mention of this in the forums, then that's great too. I'm typically working and don't read every thread that is created in the forums since I spend most of my time trying to bring you more of my creations instead ;)

Goodluck everyone.

Also, HotStock has been dropping 3090 GPUs at least twice-per-month, as I bought mine on January 5th with drops on the 22nd, Feb on the 9th, and 25th, and this month on the 12th... it is via Best Buy at MSRP!

Do NOT shop at newegg, they have been known to close people's accounts post-purchase, and their customer service is abysmal, plus both newegg and amazon's 3rd party sellers are at best scalpers and at worse, full-on scammers, just go to neweggs subreddit and you'll see just how bad they have gotten since the buy-out!

I got to agree. I used to use newegg exclusively for all my PC needs years ago. My last purchase I ended up having to do a chargeback on my credit card to get a refund on an expensive paperweight they sold me. I put them on my blacklist after that.

As for GPU, I gave up on trying to get one now, my 2080 super is not horrible or old, and the only upgrade worth doing would be a 3090, but I am not paying 3k+ for a GPU. I put the money into going from 6 to 12 cores, and a new mobo with 2 m2 slots, supposedly faster speed too.

The only way I'd buy from Amazon is if it's backed by Prime and it specificaly states "shipped and sold by Amazon".

I would certainly agree with that strategy.

I try to follow that policy too.  But sometimes... I relent.indecision

But my NewEgg policy has evolved to using NewEgg to find what I'm looking for and examining the product details (which Amazon often omits), then going to Amazon to buy it.

Yeah, I almost gave up until I lucked out on my 3090, seriously I had the luck of the devil as I was sitting there and got an inkling to randomly check Hotstock, and voila! There it was, my heart was in my throat during the entire check-out process! Getting it at MSRP over at Best Buy was the icing on the cake!

Newegg really turned to s#it since they were bought out some years ago, I'm just lucky that I bought my last PC parts before the sale!

This is the wisest thing to do, unfortunately, a large chunk of their stock is being sold by these scalpers, the only places without third-party scalpers are Best Buy and B&H!

...hmm all the bad feelings about Newegg, yet I've never had an issue with them in all the years I've been purchasing items there (even most recently).  Of course I do make sure whatever I purchase comes directly from and is shipped them. Whatever I order arrives in 3 - 4 days and is not "DOA".

When I used to travel I often flew on Northwest and I'd hear numerous complaints about their service, but again, I never had a bad experience and was actually was treated rather well. One time after returning from a kite festival at Cape May NJ, I missed my flight from Philadelphia because of a massive traffic jam on the Garden State Parkway (caused by a huge wreck) and they not only put me up in the airport hotel, but gave me dining vouchers, extra mileage credit, and put me in 1st class on the first available flight back home the next day. I've been bumped to Business or First  a couple more times (without using mileage credit), and was always compensated if something happened to cause a delay or missed connection (usually out of their control, like weather).

It is not an issue when things go right, (I'm glad you never had an issue so far) that's normal and expected; no, the issue is when things go wrong, as they are completely unsupportive/nightmarish RMAs as you'll see via their reddit subreddit... All companies fcvk up orders, it is how they deal with those fcvk ups that determine whether or not a company is worth their salt, and newegg isn't, not anymore!

And yeah, you are wise to bypass their fraudulent scalpers, 3rd party sellers, as newegg doesn't even moderate them!

I buy stuff from Amazon that gets shipped from China all the time and the non-electronic things made out of wood are risky to buy but I don't buy unless they offer a refund if it doesn't arrive or arrives damaged. A lot of times they will negociate with me to give me a discount on the damaged item(s). I don't particularly like to do so but if I can repair the damage or the damage is inconsequential to the use of the item I will oblige them. It has taken over a month though on one item I've bought from there and 2 - 3 weeks is sort of normal. I think it comes by cargo ship via China Post to US Customs in Los Angeles and from there handed to the USPS.

If you garden there are numerous scams regarding plant seeds of various sorts on Amazon. I've written to Amazon about that but it's futile. They ignore the complaint. Same situation if you try and search for a used PC being resold. Lucky I ain't needing to do that anymore.

...I stay away from anything that says "Ships from [enter name of foreign country]". There is not only a longer delivery time (sometimes weeks), but the chances of "DOA" go up as well as there's a risk of getting a shoddy knockoff (that was a case with some 1 TB Samsung Evo branded SSDs a while back which shipped from a 3rd party vendor overseas).

an alternative is the buy a prebuilt computer and sell the rest of the parts. plenty of prebuilt pcs lying around with rtx cards.

dont everyone go do this now, or even prebuilt pcs will be sold out :)

    As a matter of fact...

From my past experience, buying a pre-built computer can often result in parts that carry an 'OEM' class warranty, so the part won't be as resellable even if it came off the line right next to another that wasn't put into an off-the-shelf system. I know NVIDIA does this with their cards...two different classes of warranty.

...this is particularly true for Dell and HP.
