Does NFXstudios Farmhouse still make Daz crash?

in The Commons
I am interested in the NFXstudios Farmhouse, but forum posts about it have mentioned that it makes systems crash a lot. Does this still happen, or has it been fixed? If anyone who owns it could check for me, I'd appreciate it.

no idea but I have rendered animations of it in Carrara, iClone and Twinmotion
I will have to test it as only exported it from DAZ studio
Thanks!
OK am on my Win7 PC without a graphics card!!!
(my Nvidia rig is in use)
and can move around the viewport with iray enabled, yes grainy as F but it actually renders with onboard intel graphics
it is now rendering fine in a new window but I would not expect it to reach convergence before tomorrow on this PC!
I stopped because my CPU hit 99C
Filament it is perfectly fine realtime
lol!!! Awesome. Thanks for your help.
oh and that temperature expected on this rig with iray, I would normally use 3Delight on it or Filament
or mostly NOT DAZ studio
and BTW the crashes were with 3Delight AoA lights

Good to know.
Still crashes with 3DL sometimes, even using just the headlamp, no fancy lights. Crashed the first time I loaded it with a wide view of the whole set, but later it was stable. Most interior camera angles seem okay, but I can repeat the crash looking towards the front door from the living room. Hiding the "First Floor South Wall" prevents the crash. Hiding the parts attached to it makes no difference. I've narrowed it down to the light switch next to the door. Doesn't crash if the light switch isn't in the render. Crashes if only the light switch is in the render. Hide the geometry for the light switch and plate, no more crash. Any more light switches in this place? Plenty, but not that double one. It has the wrong displacement map, but so does the single light switch, and it renders okay. So, hiding that light switch at the front door cures the crash, as far as I can tell. Can't make it happen anymore. Tried it with DT Advanced Light presets (AoA Advanced lights) and DAZ Dimension lights (uberEnvironment2 + Distant light), no problem.
Interesting. I only use Iray, so I should be ok.
Sure, but there are some people who have been waiting SIX YEARS for a solution (if they still care). There's never been an update, so now they can make a simple change that will take less than five minutes to do and have their Farmhouse back. I don't know WHY it happens, but this will cure it at the expense of a missing light switch.
Tks North! Hmm it's funny because I've owned and used that house for a long time without a single crash, must have managed to miss that light switch all the time. Maybe now that I'm aware of the issue I get crashes
, have to zoom in on that switch and see what happens
. Very interesting indeed!
...and can confirm zooming in on that switch is a bad idea...
That single light switch must have been made with a boolean that divided by zero to get the mesh. At least it only crashes daz studio, and not the whole universe. But who knows, everytime someone attempts a render, they may be imploding distant stars.
I will need to investigate this in Carrara vertex room
If Daz QA has been working on this for 6 years, that would explain the lack of rigour in the testing of other stuff in the store.
...so here it is in all its glory...
I removed the wrong displacement maps to rule that out, set up an AoA spotlight + basic ambient occlusion. My brief testing shows that DS crashes with or without the AO, but renders in progressive mode. Did not try the standard DS lights yet. Might put in a ticket, as the fact that rendering in progressive mode works should give a hint about what's going on here.
Yeah where there's an action there is a reaction, but what if nobody is around to witness the process?
If you do, please share your findings
.
Hmm...might not file that ticket after all
that UV mapping is nuts
