Hi Daz Studio,

I would like to have portion of this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ea1lQu2q3k to be displayed on home page of our corporate website. Can you advise if it’s necessary to get a video license of it? I found it on your product store - iREAL Animated Dandelion , what is the different with the one you uploaded on Youtube?

    you would have to

contact The Philosopher (maybe through YouTube)

    on forum https://www.daz3d.com/forums/profile/2776634/PA_ThePhilosopher

    or

Commision someone else to render an animation

    or

buy the product yourself and render an animation

    or the most sensible suggestion

go to a site that sells stock footage and get a real timelapse video clip of a dandelion

  • I could not get his reply. But, i have to launch the website as soon as possible. I have downloaded the video from Youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ea1lQu2q3k , edit and trim a portion of video to be used on website. Do I need to get license of it?  or any proper site that sell video footage similar to this?

AS Wendy says   what you have to do is buy the product,  then you have a license for the product,  then you need to make your own animation. That is what Daz 3d sell, products that you can use to make your own images or animations. They do not sell ready made images or animations.   Using someone els's intellectual property offends against the Daz EULA.

Just to let you know, the iReal products are great ... but they require a strong computer system ... especially previewing things like the grass blades.

And the answer is 'NO' you cannot just grab someone's video and use it.

However, what is your website about? I might volunteer some material if it fits my veolunteer range (although maybe not as quick as you would like). You can go to this page and see two Ireal tests under the 'creation' section: Daz Practice  .

  • Without buying the product, i can't even use just a small part of this Youtube video  ?? I just need a video played from 0:31s to 1.07s.
After buying the product license from Daz store, can I use that portion of video?

NO    If you buy the product you have a license to use the product.   The video is not part of the product,  the video is the property of the vendor who made the product.  He is not selling the video, he is selling the product as listed in the store, and you then use that to make your own images or animations,.  I cannot work out how to make it any clearer.

  • Hi David, to make it a little bit clearer because I think you don't know about DAZ. Here you buy some 3d assets and use them to make little movies and nice pictures (render). Therefore you need the downloadable and free software DAZ Studio and a lot of time to learn to use it. You have to buy content for populating your scene. The vendors aka content makers sell here their stuff and make nice promo pictures and even little promo videos to show what the buyer will get. These videos are mostly hosted at Youtube, where you found it. But you can't use it without permission of the maker. Think on an advertising poster on the front of a dress shop what shows a girl in a beautiful red dress for example. You cannot take that poster and put it on your website. But you could buy that red dress, put it on a girl, take a photo and post that on your website...

This dandelion video is the promo for the animated dandelion product here in the shop and was made by the creator.

Because The Philosopher is the one who made the video, you can only get HIS permission to use it.

  • I would like to comment on the animation itself. I have never seen the first dandelion seeds come off on the downwind side of the clock. I have only ever seen the first ones come off on the upwind side, which is logical as the velocity and thus static pressure is higher on the upwind side, giving a greater available force to dislodge the seed. Just saying with my engineering hat on.

Every video on youtube belongs to the person who uploaded it, if you take the video or any part of it, you are breaking copyright laws. You MUST have permission from the person who made the video before using any part of it.

    Follow Wendy's advice...

contact The Philosopher https://www.daz3d.com/forums/profile/2776634/PA_ThePhilosopher (can take days before someone answers)

    or

Commision someone else to render an animation (might be quicker)

    or

buy the product yourself and render an animation (definitely quicker)

    or

go to a site that sells stock footage and get a real timelapse video clip of a dandelion (your fastest option)
