Downloading content

Shame on me, I should know better being a Daz Studio user for years now, but I still can't seem to get it right when I purchase something and try and download it. I purchased some things off of Renderosity for my G8 character, so is there simply a folder I can download it too so it'll show up when I open Daz? My Daz folders look like my teenage kids bedrooms right now, with so many empty dead end folders and links, so obviously I'm doing something wrong. Sorry if there's not an easy answer to this, but any help will be appreciated! Thanks - Ski

It depends on what stuff you grabbed and such (think about Daz vs. Poser formats). Also, you don't download to such a folder... Normally you download an archive with the material in it, then you extract that to your library.
By default Daz uses 2 main library folders (actually 3 but let's keep it simple): the main Daz library, this is also where all new stuff which you bought on the Daz store gets installed to. And your user library, this is where Daz will store any presets you saved. Think about poses, character presets, etc.
So basically you could extract your material to either of these folders. However, what I personally enjoy better is to set up an extra library for all this which I then use to extract my contents to. Keeps my main Daz library clean from "pollution", makes sure I don't include paid stuff in my data backups and also keeps things better manageable.
It's quite easy: press F2 to get to your preferences, then check the ocntent tab. Open the directory manager (from mind, it's the bottom option) and there you can check whihc folders are being used for your libraries but you can also add new ones.
DO keep in mind that this stuff won't automagically pop up in your smart contents pane, you'll need to use the 'content library pane' to access all this stuff.
Thank you so much for the feedback! I was able to clean up my folders and put content in the right place, you're the best! - Ski
