Can you set default values for the Filament draw options?

Hi gang,

When the Filament render engine was first introduced I was quite a sceptic, also because of some prejudice because... yah, as soon as I enabled the viewport engine everything was over exposed, how was one able to work with that mess? Thanks to a helpful post from a fellow member who's name I unfortunately forgot my attention was drawn towards the options node and that was the beginning of the end... Fast forward a few weeks (or months) later and now I'm using Filament almost constantly; especially when working on iRay renders because it gives a pretty good preview of what things are going to look like (also with background domes and such).

Heck, sometimes I even solely rely on Filament for somewhat "naughty" renders because it can generate pretty good images which quality can be more than enough. IMO the engine is quite impressive when looking at speed and quality (not to mention devently detailed previews).

Anyway....

Is there a way to set default values for the engine itself and/or the draw options node?  It gets a bit bothersome to always do the same things: add the node, go into the properties and lower the intensity scale (usually together with the scene light scale). I suppose you'll always have to do some tweaking, but it would help if you could at least immediately apply some more realistic values.

Thanks in advance for any feedback you might be able to give!

You could just save a scene with just the Filament Draw options node (and others) - then you can load it into your project whenever.

  • or to add to cain-x's answer I save a asset free scene with a good render setting that has worked with also a main panel light, the tone option, environment option and filament option. Whenever my lighting gets flaky in a scene I just merge in this one with this default render and lighting to save fiddling.
