Hair Artifact

I am getting this strange artifact from this hair. It seems to happen under certain lighting angles because it may disappear if the angle of the figure's head is changed in the same scene. It also seems related to the shadow, because if I set the cutout opacity of the hair to 0, the shadows cast by the hair are present in the render and so is the artifact. But if I set the entire hair to invisible the artifact disappears.
Any ideas on how I can fix this?
Thanks

Artifacts like those are usually caused by the skull cap of the hair intersecting the figure's forehead. You can solve that by making the cap a bit bigger (with morphs, push modifier, scaling it a few percent bigger...) so that there's no intersection anymore.
Thank you, that was it. The hair came with a lot of character prefits--not my figure, unfortunately--but by playing around with them I was able to fix this.
