CAN I SELL CONTENTS CONTAINING 3D MODELS MADE WITH DAZ STUDIO.

Hello everyone, I am Lawrence..A Nigerian.

My team and I are building a studio start up. We are using DAZ STUDIO 4.5 for developing our 3D models for our games, short films, and movies.

Some of our contents containing the 3D models (made with DAZ STUDIO) would be premium..that is sold upfront.

I want to confirm if that is allowed.

I have searched the internet and tried reading the Licsense that comes with the setup, unfortunately I got more confused.

Please could someone help make this clear to me?..

In-game purchases (micro-transations) are not permitted - it has to be a complete game product.

    Simple answer is   NO

More involved answer is that the EULA  which you will have agreed to before you downloaded any content states

Restrictions on Copying. The Content is provided for User's exclusive use. User does not have the right to provide the Content to others in any form or on any media except as set forth in this Agreement.
The Content is for User's exclusive use and no other individual or entity. Each individual must obtain his or her own license to use the Content.

You absolutely cannot sell 3D models including Daz3D content or derived from Daz3D content (eg selling a modified Daz3D figure). You could sell add-ons for the content, like clothes or morphs made for Genesis figures, but nothing which includes even part of the original product, no matter how heavily you modified it (only exceptions would be content explicitely sold as merchant ressources).

You are allowed to sell images and movies you made with Daz3D content with the standard license.

Regarding games, as Richard mentioned you can sell complete games you made using Daz3D content, with the following conditions:

    • if you used only rendered images / sprites or animations then you only need the standard license
    • if you used the 3D models themselves you need to buy the interactive license for each product you used.
