Problems with Rogue Waves Hair

Doc AcmeDoc Acme Posts: 1,153

I picked this up a few days ago and it's just not having it.

dforce Rogue Waves Hair for Genesis 8, Genesis 8.1 and Genesis 3 Males

https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-rogue-waves-hair-for-genesis-8-genesis-81-and-genesis-3-males

I can see the hair in wire Shaded, but it won't render, just the skullcap.

Is there some add'l trick to make this product work?  This a bug?

I'd check the docs, but as usual...

Thanks.

Is that an actual render or just Iray preview? By default dForce hair doesn't show in Iray preview to save ressources.

To get dForce hair to show in Iray preview you need to change a few hair parameters:

    • set "preview PR Hair" to "On"
    • set "Hair-Pre Render (PR)" to "On"
    • set "Viewport Line Tessellation Sides" to at least 2.

Both Iray preview and actual render.

I'll give those a look then.

This will occur with strand based hair if you have the geometry tool (or meshgrabber) selected at render time - nearly drove me to madness a few weeks back.

    Good to know.

I got them to work now in both preview & Render. Just  a wee bit obscure if your not used to working with the dForce hair, which I'm not.

Might there be a Preset that I could create? Would that be a Render  Preset, or a Surfaces, a Sim,..?

Right, same thing with Joint editor tool IIRC.
