Unfortunately, whenever I look at Zachary Quinto, all I can see is that bitchy IT worker he played on 24 two decades ago. Now, ironically, he's playing the role Leonard Nimoy famously didn't want to get typecast over, and  I'm just typecasting Quinto for a completely different role.

No, not V4 for me. It's a V3 character I can't really let go of despite all the joint limitations of V3. Silly and sentimental reasons keep me with it.

I, too, have started the move from V4/M4 to G8MF and am worried the transition will leave my go-to characters in the dust, but there are tools available here to convert your generation 4 character to g8 people.

Yes, typing "mature" into the store search.

Off the top of my head, there's Edie, Mabel, Mrs. Chow, Nida, Alexandria, and Sydney. And, since they're all core characters, they have addon characters too.

it was scary, but it was time.  face rigging is worth it. can tweak facial features with face rigging, break up symmetry.  

for a carrara user its 10 times the work, but such is life

Sydney strikes me as trying very hard not to look like she's fifty, lol. If you want to change her eyebrows, just change her face texture to remove the eyebrows and grab a set of fibermesh brows from somewhere else.

If you like Edie, make sure to pick up her companion figure Ollie 8. He has the same stylized, goofy fairy/goblin aesthetic as her.

I GenX'ed a slew of gen3 and 4 charaters to G1 back in the day. Had to leave the gen3 skins behind, since there really wasn't a good way to port them for someone on a Mac. But, with a development cycle of over 4 years, there was no shortage of gen4 skins to substitute them with.

That served as my base for my character library for a good 7 years or so. I don't think I used more than a couple of G2 characters, apart from maybe monsters.  G2 seemed to have a much wider field of monsters to choose from than G1.

I did stockpile a fair number of G3 characters, mainly because with DAZ having broken the mold, I could tell that porting the skins any further was going to be a problem. But it wasn't until Ollie 8, and some of D. Master's early 'Toons came out that I actually moved up from G1. I'm still fairly likely to use G3 skins, since they were a bit more likely to include 3DL materials. I'll convert if I have to, but it's simpler just to use an older skin. It's not like I'm doing portraits, after all.
