DS setup questions:)

I just got a new pc I'm not sure if I have my DS set up correctly for my pc.I was wwondering if I can ask advice herre. My pc specs are:
Windows 10
Processor AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6-Core Processor 3.59 GHz
Installed RAM 16.0 GB
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Video Card Radeon RX 580 Series
Chip type: AMD Radeon Graphics Processor (0x67DF)
So I was wondering should I have issues with Iray? Would it still be uber slow? I was told this should be compatible to a Nvidia card but I'm not sure I have things set right lol.

I love AMD CPUs and have a Radeon RX 580. Unfortunately, when you were told it was compatible/equivelent to an Nvidia card, they were probably refering to gaming. Iray is an Nvidia proprietary renderer and will only work with Nvidia graphics cards, not with AMD cards. The result is that your Iray renders will use your CPU and continue to be slow.
Most computer techs/salesmen in stores are not familiar with CGI. I suggest in the future asking here in the forums before buying.
Iray needs an nvidia card to work well, so any rendering you do in iray with this PC will be CPU only
ok thanks:) That helps me out still. Another question with the specs I posted, can a nvidia card work with this pc? I was thinking later order 1 but wasn't sure what would be compatible to check into:)
16GB of RAM< may be a little limiting - if you do go for an nVidia card later (can't you ask them to chnage ti now, since they recommended it?) then you wouldn't want to go over 8GB on the card, without additional system RAM - but it should be fine for the most part.
As mentioned above, the CPU doesn't matter that much for Iray rendering as the load is mostly carried by the GPU, its memory limit and sys ram. Personally I'd add another mem card, the same specs as your current ones, and as Richard says, try to swap your Radeon GPU for a Nivida one. I hate to suggest something that's going to cost you more money, but if you intend to use Iray with reasonable render times you'll need a Nvidia card.
I wholeheartedly agree. 16Gig will limit you. I have done a 2-character render with a set like a forest or something and have run out of RAM completely, locking up the computer with only 16Gig. I'm in the process of upgrading to Windows 7 Pro and I can quadruple that to 64Gig, because I'm not sure that 32 will be enough.
I don't think I'd recommend less that 32Gig of RAM and 6Gig on the (nVidia) video card.
